do any cards not charge you for the balance transfer? like 3% that most charge!

No Sandra there are no cards to my knowledge, and I've looked, that do not charge you for a balance transfer. The lowest I have found is 2%

I did have a couple with a flat fee. but maybe no longer, but with 0% interest for up to 18 months, the three percent is well worth it.

the chase slate card has one

Most balance transfers I have seen lately are up to 5% fee now.

Chase slate does for the first 60 days

Chase Slate for first 60 days with a ZERO interest rate for 15 months...it is BY FAR the BEST BT card on the market.

Sandra, when my friend worked at Discover Card for balance transfers, she found many people asked or insisted on 1 No interest for the life of the loan 2 No balance transfer fee. The Discover Card employee would have to ask their supervisor every time but they always ended the call with "YES". If the card company you speak to about balance transfers do not comply don't accept their offer.

Yes the Chase slate has no balance transfer fee and 0% APR on balance transfers and purchases for 15 months.

Sandra, many capital one cards do not charge for balance transfers and then offer the same APR as purchases after the transfer and after a billing cycle.

The wonderful world of free, until you get to the application where it says a fee will be charged for BT. Free doesn't mean what it used to.

Sandra, The Barclay Ring does not charge a transfer fee.

Capital One does not charge any Balance Transfer fees, Foreign Transaction Converstion Fees, nor Overdraft Fees. They also offer Balance Transfers on an ongoing basis. The rates are pretty much the same, and their credit qualifications are far more flexible than Citi. Check them out, their you're best bet... for standard cards. For a card that does not need ongoing balance transfers, has exceptional service, and very low interest rates, and if you're smart... you'll choose a "Credit" Card, go with American Express. I've had them since 2007; they're the best, if you have Good to Excellent Credit! GK

Yes, the Slate from chase for the first 60 days after opening

Last year I did a balance transfer with no charge on CHase SLate. CHeck it out it was the only one. NOw looking to transfer again. Can't find a card as gooas that one LOw APR on anything yiou buy as well. 15 mos. no interest.

Yes there are many you have to just look around this site shows not many cards of all that are available there are hundreds to choose from.

Chase Slate does not charge you for the transfer if made within the initial period of opening the card, for me I think I had 60 days. Of course offers vary from time to time, but when I opened it they provided 0% APR BT 0 fee 15 months.

chase slate had o% for balance transfers

Navy Federal Credit Union does.

occasionally credit unions waive transfer fees and give upwards of 16 months with 0% apr

Best card I've seen (and used) is Barclays. 1% balance transfer fee.

you are sick minded which not showing my common ,credit card is chain in the shoulder of our socialites ,down with all creadit companies

I did a BT a while back with no fee, zero cost, 0 fee, but it was a while back, couple years I think, then I could only find a 1% or a 3 % BT fee. ugh

I believe Chase Slate may.

Chase Slate is 0% for 15 months with 0% Balance Transfer Fee for balances transferred in the 1st 60 days. It is also 0% APR on purchases made within the 15 month period as well.

First Niagara Bank is offering 0 % and no balance transfer fee for a limited as of April 2015

I just got one from State Farm Bank, Sandra!

Consumption! It’s the new national pastime. To heck with baseball, it’s consumption. The only true lasting American value that’s left – buying things! People spending money they don’t have on things they don’t need – MONEY THEY DON’T HAVE ON THINGS THEY DON’T NEED – so they can max out their credit cards and spend the rest of their lives paying 18% interest on something that cost $12.50! And they didn’t like it when they got it home anyway!

chase slate no transfer fee

I can't believe this is the best we have to pick from! You can have the best credit rating and still only get a 10.99% rate, this is like loan sharking, you can get a loan on a car for 2.66% or on a house. The same banks we the tax payers bailed out of trouble have raised rates so you will never get the card paid off. I guess our elected officials owe some payback for contributions received so they turn a blind eye to what's going on. If they had an Italian name they would be having the DA prosecute for loan sharking. Get out from under these crooks and burn the cards if you can't afford it now wait until you save the money to get it.

Absolutely Robert !!!!!! We bailed these Ba-----ds out and this is how they thank us ......while we're in a recession. Dirty Dogs.......Because of Illness and medical ......I'm seriously thinking about bankruptcy.....I called the credit card companies and explained my situation. I've been with them for years and paid them off numerous times. and when I need them to work with me ...they Can't......we're so sorry Ms. Blank. USSA is the BEST CARD.....used to only be available to military and dependent's. Now available to all. They did nor have they ever raised my APR.

great answer i agree totally that if you cant pay off the card every month then get a card with money on it so you know how much you can use and still get credit

ok for you. yes the rates on credit cards are so high they make you poor.

I can't believe this is the best we have to pick from! You can have the best credit rating and still only get a 10.99% rate, this is like loan sharking, you can get a loan on a car for 2.66% or on a house. Get out from under these crooks and burn the cards if you can't afford it now wait until you save the money to get it. YOU ARE CORRECT (BOB)

Robert, I agree with you. Last week I ran my card for purchases at a dollar store because they are the only store in the neighborhood with window curtain rods. The screen offered cash back. The cash back service charged $1 per request. I thought cheaper than an ATM but I as only asking for $10 any way and realized a dollar store has to charge $1 because they are low man on the totem pole of stores preferred by check and credit card services. The cashier and I had been discussing cash cards with Visa or MasterCard logos. We read their bottom lines when we could find them. Neither of us thought any of them were a good deal. I don't think credit cards by their nature can be a good deal for the consumer either. The best bank card is a good personal budget.

You get.065% on a 50,000 Money Mkt at Bank Americathat money cost them maybe 2% Stocking under pillow is better

Absolutely no other comments to add to yours. All the truth...I paid mine all the time, extra when i could, went out of work due to injury,so now workers comp pays me some. I called mine, explained situation, asked for an extension of no interest for few months...ABSOLUTELY NOT AND was treated like a beggar on a street corner.Unbelievable, did they think i WANTED to fall and basically lose everything??? Tell ya something else, Obama care does not allow workers comp money to be used as income so, FULL PRICE insurance starting at 377.00 a month. I will stop rambling for now but am just pissed that nobody seems to get a break. same as Toni writes below me..

If you use the card knowing you can't pay it off each month, then you shouldn't be getting the item. Things people buy with credit cards are wants not needs. People need a car, People need a house, They don't need all these items that the typical consumer pays with there credit card. Don't blame the credit card company for high interest rates. Its all about business. Just like a car loan. Not everyone gets a low interest loan when buying a car. Its all about personal responsibility, don't blame the credit card company, blame yourself if you have a card and can't pay it off due to high interest. Its not the high interest your mad about, it should be your dumbs that charged so much to the credit card.

Your points are all valid Robert I couldn't of said it better myself!

it is unsecured debt and most times it costs the bank more than the customer balances to get the money back. most credit card customers do not bank where they have cards ....so those that ruined it by defaulting on lower balances have driven up the risk for the rest that continue to pay on a regular basis..... 10.99 is below the avg 12 for major brand visa/mc and way below the big box like macys, home depots 24%. don't like it........don't use it.

Robert you are so right. These Corporate Loan Sharks get their money from the Federal Bank at 0% interest then have the Gall to turn around and Charge even their best customers 10-20% Now if that's not criminal I don't know what is. Here's away around these Corporate Crooks. If you do business with a Credit Union , and if you don''t I strongly suggest you do. You can get a credit union short term revolving acct. like your card at a much lower rate. Remember that a Credit Union works for you the share holder . Banks work for themselves and investors. Who do you think is going to look after you better?????

Picture of Wayne Tucker

Why give all the breaks to new card holders. Why not the present card holders a break, especially the ones that pay thear bills on time?.

I agree Wayne I called Chase & they will not work with you on their card(s). Will be changing shortly NO MORE Chase for me.

You bet!!! One would think that a TRIED and TRUE customer would mean something better than 17.9 -22.9 pro cent... No problem though.... I'll just dump them and move on to the NEXT 0% offer...

I really like your idea. Sure would be great if some credit card or cards did that....Thanks for your comment..

USAA the best, look into what they ofter. Been a member for 40yrs

I absolutely agree!! I tried with capital one and chase to lower my apr and I've been with both for over 8 yrs and both said NO..... NO LOYALTY on their part SMH and that is why they will lose my business.

I agree with you..I used too carry 2 or 3 cards..Now they make you "reapply" in order to get the offers of 0% or 0% BT...Now I have so many cards I lost count..You cant cancel them because they claim its no good for credit..So I get what I want out of them and when "frill is up" I cut it up...

Wouldn't that be nice but it will probably never happen. The good guy always gets screwed especially from these banks they don't really care about the consumer.

I like credit card because i know how to pay bills, but sometimes you have to pay the price,if you can not able to pay all you do is call the customer service they will help you..i HAVE two good cards one is secured an one is not they let me open $300 an every month i paid the bill.I have a secured Capital One $200 i negotiated to my bank to pay the check i wrote to pay my bills an they did but i was over limit. So i have to pay the price..I worked as a transit driver an ia making good money..But my score is improving a little,am happy of what i got,an now am going to join the credit union see if they can help improving my credit score..You well that we are living in a credit score if you do not have a record of credit no one will approve you if you are thinking to loan something, you have a better chance of having a poor credit that having no credit record at all>>>

If you pay your bills on time the bank will not be able to charge you an exorbitant late fee. They'll get their money from you one way or another.

I recently rid myself of 3 capital one cards who secretly raised my rates to 35% from 19%. I was wondering why after paying 25 dollars above the min pymt why I was not getting ahead. I paid them off the next month and they thanked me by lowering my credit score by 48 points.

USAA decided to not give me a loan to consolidate my credit cards. I have had them for 12 years and 7 months, and have never missed a payment. Reason for rejection; insufficient credit history.... 12 years and 7 months is not sufficient to know I pay my debts on time? JOKE!

Picture of Chris Udermann

None of these beats the Sams Club 5-3-1 Master Card, 5% back on all Gas Purchases, 3 % back on all travel, hotel, airfare and restaurant and 1% back on everything else - and the amount of $$ you can earn back is much higher than any of these.. Should be the top rated card out of all of these.

I totally agree! Don't understand why it is not the number 1 card.

But, does this Sams' card allow a balance transfer?

what bank issues the card? probably Citi, (not interested).

22.99 on the 5-3-1 card

How to apply? Do I need to be a member of Sam's Club? There are no Sam's Club in our area.

AmEx Preferred Cash is 6% cash back on groceries, 5% at department stores, 3% on gas and 1% on all other purchases. Cost is $75 per annum. The only negative is that the grocery cash back is limited to the first $6,000 in purchases.

The problem is they don't pay but once a year. When they do pay do you get a check or credit at Sams club ?

If you are qualified, The Pentagon Federal C U is paying 5,3 & 1 % (Gas, Shopping and Everything Else) There is no restrictions regarding time or max amounts. Check it out at www.penfed.com. This is the best rewards card bar none.

I have this card you speak of and also think it is a great card to have in your wallet!

Great, put MORE money into the Walton pockets. I boycott anything having to do with those greedy pigs.

Pay cash then no bills at the end of the month

Sounds like someone has a sugar Daddy and never had to go it alone after the death of a spouse.

This is true, however using a credit card that has cash back rewards & paying off the balance off each month earns you free money. Who doesn't like free money?

Well that is just not true! I got a second job then a third and than a better job! I pay cash. If I don't have the money at the time I just don't need it, Plus I save something out of each check, no matter how little. Half of all raises go to savings.

Isn't it interesting that the Banks pay almost nothing (usually less then 1/2 of 1 % on money markets and even less for checking accounts and then sock it to you on credit card interest rates as well as $35 0r $40 should a check need to be stopped. Yeah, let bail them out again when they screw up.

Exactly..that's what I do .....

I don't feel safe carrying the amount of cash I need for daily purchases such as groceries/gas/tickets/clothing, let alone major appliances or vacations. I use a cash back card for everything and pay it off at the end of every month......works well for me.

why are you or anybody else who pays cash for everything even on this website??? credit cards are a reality in todays world. hindsite is 20/20. yes some of us have gotten into trouble with credit cards but we are here to try and fix the problem since as I mentioned earlier are a reality in todays world. 4 years ago I paid off 2 credit cards and they instantly closed my accounts and my rating dropped 100 points. I personally would like a kiss before I get screwed!!!

I was just thinking ,is it that banks charge so much fees because they know if you bellie up ,the bank's get a taxs cut at the beginning of the year, it's just legal stealing for the banks and hard time for you and the banks well they get big bonus

US Bank card is best.

US BANK IS THE BEST ! AND ALSO SECOND CHANCE BANK

barry try citi double cash card you get 1% for making a payment and 1% making purchases best card i have it

Michael, I don't pay interest on my cards but the cards pay me to make the purchases that I would normally make using cash. How does a bank get a tax cut for trying to drive purchases to their card?

Hi kev Alessandri - I read yr comment. I have had great credic cards. I have a Capital One Quick Silver and I got a $100 bonus for spending $500 within the first 3 months and I get 1.5% CASH BACK so I pay all of my bills and EVERYTHING with it and just pay the full amount owed every month and never pay interest! How else could you get paid for paying your bills, gas, and groceries?!

I got Capital One seems to be a great card, but to charge up $500 to get any reward? They know they will get that back in interest.

I use the Discover IT card which offers 1-5% cash back, a Discover checking account that pays $.10 per transaction including free BillPay (for those bills that charge a fee be paid with a card). I linked those to Amazon & just use the reward cash there. Pay off the balance each month and enjoy the free money!

that's pretty smart,gotta try that!

I also have this card and it is one of the best cards to have.

22.9% interest!!!! Are they crazy?????

yes they r crazy………its the best thing going for these credit card companies. 22%. its an incredible return. Imagine doing 22% on your investment…You would be brilliant

after hospitalization credit went sour with three months in hospital, I understand a higher interest for me. Is it fare/right to have to pay higher interest because of illness , feels wrong, but only thing to do sometimes is to pay it untill credit improves again. Have you paid timely for 6 months? call and simply ask to lower the interest rate.

Not a problem if you pay off the balance every month

If you don't have good credit then a secured credit card from your bank maybe the best option. only charge about 10% of whats avail and pay it off every month eventually it could become an unsecured card (like mine did) and you get a nice chunk back as a reward. I got mine through wells fargo. On a second note, I have the Discover it card and my credit is only a fair because I still have old collections that show up on my report. as opposed to the "Excellent" that's shown on the card details

medical history?? the subject is credit cards
