This card is a game-changer with one of the highest rates of unlimited cash back we’ve ever seen on a no-annual fee credit card: cardholders can earn unlimited 2% cash rewards on purchases, no ifs ands or buts. 2% is just about as good as it gets when it comes to rewards cards, so if you’re on the hunt for a card that is very low maintenance that still allows for a substantial accumulation of rewards this one is tough to beat. The Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card also comes with a solid if uninspiring welcome offer – new cardholders can earn a $200 cash rewards bonus after spending $500 in purchases in the first 3 months. This isn’t the best welcome offer on the market, but we feel that the ongoing rewards program is strong enough to offset it.
This card also comes with over a year of 0% intro APR on both purchases and balance transfers: 0% intro APR for 15 months from account opening for purchases and 0% intro APR for 15 months from account opening on qualifying balance transfers; in both cases, an APR of 19.99%, 24.99%, or 29.99% variable APR applies after that intro period is up. This comes with one important caveat – that period of no interest only applies from the first 15 months from account open, so we recommend planning ahead if you’re looking to take full advantage of those features.
Expert Reviews of the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card
The Bottom Line
Overall, this card is an exceptional choice in the world of no-annual-fee rewards cards, especially for those who don’t want to deal with activating rewards categories or worrying about more complicated cash back programs.
The Good
This card’s unlimited rewards program is best-in-class right now – you won’t find a higher rate of unlimited cash back on a no annual fee card today.
The Not so Good
This card doesn’t have the strongest welcome offer and only offers a period of 0% intro APR for the first 15 months from account open for purchases and balance transfers.
