One of the main reasons that people shop for a new credit card is in order to find banks that offer special 0% balance transfer deals for the longest period of time and with low transfer fees. In recent years consumers have started to use credit cards more wisely than they did before the big credit crisis. Now they tend to shift high-interest card balances to cards that offer a lower APR, because in doing so they are able to gain immediate and substantial savings.

You will want to pay special attention to any minimum charges or transfer % that a credit card company might impose on you for transferring a balance – deduct that cost from your overall savings in order to arrive at a real net savings for transferring to a new credit card.
