American Express has long been the standard-bearer for the credit card industry in terms of offering status, 5-star perks, and personalized customer service. Those who carry Amex products such as their Gold or Platinum level cards, for example, enjoy a whole menu of special features that can make the cardholder experience feel less like a relationship with plastic and more like a rock star concierge service. The American Express Centurion card, in fact, entitles card members to such opulent and luxurious VIP treatments that it maintains an almost mythological status.
The perks don’t stop at personal credit cards either; American Express business cards, for instance, offers practical business tools and targeted services that can make running a business much simpler. Carrying an American Express corporate card could deliver the types of benefits and features outlined below that make your job easier, more efficient, and more cost effective.
Standard Expense Reporting (SER)
The SER feature is free to corporate cardholders and lets them access pre-populated expense reports. All you need to do is annotate expenses, add any out-of-pocket charges, and download the report. It really doesn’t get any simpler than that, particularly when you, as a business owner, have the primary card account. Even employee-issued cards can be tracked for accounting purposes.
Work Program Management
Of course having multiple cards on your corporate account may sound complicated, which is why Amex reduces the work involved with administering a corporate account program. Just use the convenient “American Express @ Work” tools to manage task such as applying for, canceling, and suspending cards, monitoring policy compliance, tracking expenses, or creating and generating reports.
Easy Management of Your Card Account
You also have the option of combining your American Express Corporate Card program with Concur, an on-demand expense management tool. Concur gives you access to expense reports pre-populated with corporate card transactions and streamlines the creation of expense reports and approvals. You may also select from 10 billing cycles to coordinate billing dates with your company's payroll periods or reimbursement schedules. Choose totrack and manage payments with individual billing and statements or with those that are centralized to coordinate everything in one place. All of your corporate card activity can be managed through an account online or via your mobile device. You can do things like view your statements, make payments, set up email or mobile alerts, dispute or make an inquiry regarding charges to your account.
Discounts and Rebates
Meanwhile, if you carry an Amex corporate card, you are also eligible for discounts of 5% on Enterprise Car Rentals and 15% off when renting from National Car Rental, thanks to an exclusive partnership agreement with Amex.
You can also earn end-of-year rebates and receive point-of-purchase discounts, on qualified business services, office supplies, travel, and more through the Savings at WorkProgram where Amex partners with retail merchants. No enrollment is required to take advantage of those features.
Travel and Emergency Support
With your corporate card you’ll have access to the 24-hour Amex Global Assist Hotline for worldwide referral assistance service formedical, travel, and legal support while traveling more than 100 miles from home. Up to $350,000 in business travel insurance is provided for door-to-door business-related travel, plus baggage protection is offered on up to $1,250 for carry-on luggage and up to $500 for checked baggage.
Gold and Platinum Perks
Cardmembers will receive plenty of free features with a standard Amex Corporate Card, or “Green Card” version. If you upgrade to the Corporate Gold Card you will also get 24/7 access to concierge services to assist on virtually everything from coordinating travel plans to finding a business gift. At the higher, Platinum Card level, additional benefits kick in like complimentary membership in preferred customer car rental programs, upgrades with free breakfast and late check-out at many fine hotels, and membership into the Platinum Dining Program that will hold a reservation for you at more than 1,000 of the top restaurants in the U.S. and abroad. *Terms and limitations apply.
Travel on American Airlines
There is also the American Express/Business Extra Corporate Credit Card, which is affiliated with American Airlines. In addition to the normal corporate card benefits, this card also provides a 4% rebate on eligible American Airlines travel purchased with the card.
