what is the best card for someone who pays off his balance every month ?

By: CompareCards | Aug 4, 2016

If you're paying off your balance every month you should look for the credit card that will give you the most rewards for your spending. The Citi Double Cash is an excellent option to start with, but if you spend a lot of money a certain categories, another rewards card might be a better choice. For example the BankAmericard Cash Rewards is an excellent credit card if you spend a lot on gas and the Blue Cash Preferred Card from American Express is a great choice if you spend a lot on groceries.

By: Marc Harrell | Aug 18, 2016

If you pay the card off in full every month, I disagree with the comment below, no disrespect, Apply for the Amex Gold Charge Card. The rewards and benefits are bye far the best. They waive the annual fee and it is a GREAT CARD... Below they are giving you categories. I don't like that. I did this for Wealth Management clients, The card I recommend you can use points towards anything!

I got the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card and spent enough to get the point in the special offer which added up to enough to pay for 4 nights in a Hyatt Hotel in Chicago for our son's graduation.

No Annual fee for Discover. I have had mine for 25 years. I love discover. the cash back is an added bonus. I do not like to carry a balance because the interest rate is pretty high. I do like to see my FICO score each month. That is a nice plus. I have received extra cash back many times over. I always sign up for the bonus cash back features and it pays off. Good luck to you!

By: Sharon Hendrickson Dillsaver | Aug 15, 2016

I always get the gift cards because they are worth more than the actual amount. I have had a Discover card since it began.

By: Deborah French Sieber | Aug 26, 2016

I have had a Discover Card for 44 years, and could not be happier with it! I also like that it gives me my FICO score monthly, and the rewards are great. I use auto-pay for several of my monthly accounts and my Paypal account uses my Discover, also. I build up points like crazy. I cash in my points by ordering restaurant gift cards, $45 worth of points buys a $50 gift card. ( There are over 100 retailers to choose from, many offering the extra $5 value.) Discover has an EXCELLENT customer service team. I don't spend 20 minutes plowing through an automated phone system, I don't wait more than a minute to talk to a real live person when I need help, everyone speaks clear English, and they are great at solving problems for me. (Example: a lawn service that I fired continued to bill me. Discover put an end to that.) They also do a great job of monitoring my card and have notified me many times of unusual charges. Every time my number gets hacked I have a new card with a new number in 2 days, and I've never been expected to pay for charges that weren't mine. There are other great cards out there, too, I have a few, but this one is my go-to card for almost everything..

Using my Discover card to prepare for a trip is one of my safest plans. Staying on top of my expenses and money used for leisure helps me to control my finances and monitor my credit score. Leaving room for usage of other credit cards such as American express one of my personal favorites.

I am probably going to get creamed by everyone and I most likely deserve it. HERE IS MY ISSUE: When I get bored, I apply for a credit card. I am never turned down because I am sitting on over 200,000 dollars of credit with an 818 FICO score that seems to stay between 810 and 825 depending on if I apply for another CC. It has become an issue with me obviously. HOWEVER, I don't owe a cent to any of them. I spend app. 2000 dollars a month on CCs and pay them off every month. I haven't paid interest in 25 years. When a ad pops up and says that it is for "EXCELLENT" credit, I get hyped. I am proud of my excellent credit and what it CAN do for me if I wish. The problem is; I DON'T need another one. Has anyone here known someone like me or is there someone here that is like me? This is the first time I have spoken about it in public and this is actually "ME" hiding behind my computer so it isn't too public. Thanks for listening to me ramble.

I have finally gotten my husband and I's credit at the same place as you and I'm loving the power to say NO. We only use are Card's when we know we can pay them off the same month without any interest. It's fun to have that kind of power. We weren't always there, but that's where we want to stay. AND yes, I just got 3 new cards with very low interest rates, if we ever use them. So, it's wonderful to have that kind of power and to be in control rather than the other way around. So, I'm with you. AND we have 825 Credit Score, so if we ever buy a house, we will have the choice of the lowest interest rates. . .Yea! I just hope others catch on and learn to control there spending too. Its very freeing. Thanks for sharing.

By: David Beauvais | Jul 10, 2016

I have a lot of cards with high credit lines and scores similar to yours. I don't think there's anything wrong with what you're doing since it's not causing any harm, but there are probably better solutions to overcome boredom than applying for credit cards. Whenever I apply for a card, I do it for specific reasons, mainly to get bonuses that I convert to free travel. If you like to travel, or want good cash back, it makes sense to apply for cards that will return some benefit to you. I have two airline-specific cards and several other cards that earn flexible points for use on practically any airline and many hotels. Accumulating miles/points or cashback is very rewarding as long as you pay in full.

By: Maria Mkr | Jul 11, 2016

I love to hear that! Excellent!

By: Ed Forney | Jul 11, 2016

I currently in the same situation, My score isn't as high as yours , but in the high 780s.i find myself applying for credit just as you . It's addictive and I just apply to see what limit I will receive.

By: Stanley Ziegler | Jul 18, 2016

Two warnings to guys carrying too many credits cards in your wallet. When you sit on that wallet it puts your body and particularly your spine out of alignment. This is not good for your health. The second is it gives a pick pocket the opportunity to take a card or two from your wallet without you knowing until you get a bill for goods you haven't bought. I have three credit cards and only carry two at any one time. I guess you can call me super cautious.

By: John Fiore | Jul 20, 2016

Very similar circumstances. Have now narrowed the cards to just a few.

By: Marlene Daeseleer | Jul 21, 2016

I use my discover card for every thing! And I too pay it off when bill comes in.. I don't buy unless i know i can pay it soon as bill comes in...my fico is between 813 & 826. I'm money wise..

By: Sparky Pinola | Jul 30, 2016

By: Jeffrey M Reeves | Jul 31, 2016

I would like to say, "You are not alone!" I, too, have a penchant for applying for a new card whenever the urge strikes. I don't get turned down either. My FICO score is 795 to 825+. I pay off any debt owed by the time the statement arrives. Sometimes I apply because of a "bonus" or a 0% intro APR. Or just because the card's logo/design is appealing. Sounds crazy, huh? It's better than gambling! LOL!

By: Sherrie DuganMantooth | Jul 31, 2016

I personally like the cash back or points cards I like you pay mine off every month and have for sometime now. I like it when they pay me instead of me paying interest to them!

By: Leonard Harrison | Aug 1, 2016

i understand I have over 20 cards some over 30 years. About 3 years ago I was doing the same thing that you do. I even applied for cards at Walmart and Khols, store I very seldom shop. Thankfully although I am still tempted I have learn to refrain.

By: Cheryl Keithley | Aug 2, 2016

Gary, I guess if you owe none of them any money, then, what the heck. Are you paying an annual fee on any of them? That may be one disadvantage. Like you, I have a great credit rating and I charge my monthly expenses only to pay off in full at end of the month. My fear: that I will forget to pay a card even though I have the $$. Too many cards to keep up with. I try to not use more than 4 in the month. Nice confession, though. Do you suppose it is a "control" thing? like, maybe is the ONE thing you can control, so .... ? Just a thought. Good luck

Hi, I'm looking for the best rewards card with no maximum earning for business purchases. I don't need airline perks and APR does not matter, as I will not be carrying a balance. I currently have the AMEX Plum card that gives a 1.5% discount but hoping to get above 2% cash back. Willing to pay annual fees, as I can offset the costs if needed through several million dollars of purchases/year. The best cards that seem to fit that are the Citi Double Cash Card (1% + 1%) and the Spark Cash by Capital One card (2%). Any others out there anyone would suggest?

0% Credit Cards & Interest Free Credit Cards

Low interest rate (or 0%) credit cards can save you hundreds of dollars on balance transfers and on routine purchases carried over as credit card balances. Or you may simply want to be rewarded with a preferential interest rate as acknowledgement for good credit history and responsible debt management. Whatever your goals or motivation, zero percent or low interest credit cards can help you maintain the lowest rates available to individuals with excellent to good credit. You can find out more about credit score here.

Keep in mind that there are two main categories of low rate credit cards, namely those that offer a Variable APR and those that give you a Fixed APR.  Just like with variable versus fixed rate mortgages, a fixed rate APR will remain relatively stable through the course of the loan. If your card company decides to raise it – which is somewhat rare – they will first notify you of that change according to Federal law requirements. With a variable rate, your APR is tied to a prevailing rate such as the Prime Interest Rate. If the prime rate increases then your APR will most likely follow in a similar fashion.

Generally speaking, credit card companies and banks will extend either 6 or 21 month offers – within the 0% to 3.99% annual interest rate range. That can generate a considerable discount when normal APRs are averaging around 15% or higher. Once the introductory promotional period expires, the APR on a low interest credit card or interest free credit card may revert to the regular interest rate. Of course the ideal balance is a credit card that offers a great near term rate followed by an attractive, competitively priced low interest rate for the long term.

The interest rate charged on your credit card is widely regarded as the single most important component of your card. That’s because it determines the major cost for you to borrow or roll over balances and pay them off over time instead of all at once or within the same month that you make purchases. That’s why getting a zero percent or low interest credit card can be huge financial boon, no matter what your credit card usage patterns or money management strategies may be.
