Earn miles fast with this attractive and easy to earn sign-up bonus: 20,000 Bonus LifeMiles after first card use. The Avianca Vida Visa® Card offers a solid ongoing rewards rate. Earn 2 LifeMiles per $1 spent on Avianca purchases and 1 LifeMile per $1 spent on all other purchases.

Founded in 1919, Avianca is headquartered in Columbia. With over 108 destinations, Avianca is one of the premier Latin America carriers. While Avianca may not be a household name, there is tremendous value tucked inside the transferable rewards points of this airline’s frequent flyer program: LifeMiles. The ability to transfer credit card points from Marriott Bonvoy, American Express, Capital One and Citi ThankYou Rewards into the LifeMiles program increases traveler’s ability to easily combine points for maximum rewards.

If you are carrying a credit card balance, take advantage of 0% intro APR for 12 months on balance transfers made within the first 90 days of account opening. After that, your APR will be 14.74% to 27.74%. That is a rare offering on a travel credit card and could save you up to hundreds of dollars in high interest charges.

The LifeMiles frequent flyer program is part of the robust Star Alliance, which enables LifeMiles members to earn and redeem miles on member airlines’ flights to over 1,250 destinations across the world. As of January 2020 there are 25 airlines in that alliance, including United, Lufthansa, CopaAirlines, Air Canada, Air China, Air New Zealand in the alliance. With Star Alliance you can redeem your points for a flight or upgrade no matter what frequent flyer program you earned them through.

Other valuable features include travel perks like a 15% discount on purchases of miles with Multiply Your Miles, travel accident insurance and auto rental collision damage waiver. The annual fee is $59.

The Bottom Line

This card unlocks new opportunity for any travel card enthusiast. The transferable points and ability to redeem on Star Alliance member’s flights increase your options exponentially.

The Good

Get the sign-up bonus after first card use! You could buy a cup of coffee and earn the bonus. Really. The opportunity for 0% intro APR on a balance transfer is a rare feature on a travel card.

The Not so Good

The foreign transaction fee is 1% of each transaction in U.S. dollars. You may want to only use this card for purchases inside the U.S.
