Expert Reviews

From the CompareCards.com Editorial Team:

This prepaid card puts a real Visa product in your wallet, without a credit background check and even if you have no credit history to speak of and a poor credit score. It looks like a regular Visa card and is likewise accepted at tens of thousands of global retail locations. Because it is a prepaid card it doesn’t work just like a standard credit card, however, and you have to pre-load it with cash paid by you into your own account.

Prepaid cards don’t charge any interest, though, so you do not have to be concerned about interest rates, late fees, or accidentally going over your credit limit. If you add funds to the card and then spend them it no longer works until you reload it, so it is virtually impossible to get into credit card trouble using a NetSpend Prepaid Visa card.

In exchange for leniency regarding instant approval, you can expect to pay fees based on the type of plan you select. You can pick a fee plan tailored to your spending habits to help control your costs. Meanwhile lots of other prepaid cards charge a great deal more than this one does, so it stands up quite well against the competition.

The Bottom Line

This is a good choice if you want a prepaid card that does not have too many annoying and expensive fees associated with it. The card can be yours even if you have no credit or bad credit, and approval is fast and virtually assured. The card is also honored at tons of locations all over the world.

The Good

For a prepaid card this one has reasonable fees, and like other prepaid cards you can get this one without having to have any credit history. You can even have lousy credit and still qualify instantly for this card, and it looks just like an ordinary Visa card and is accepted wherever Visa is honored.

The Not so Good

Your line of credit is just the cash you put into your own account, and there are fees for conducting certain transactions. So unless you need this kind of card because you cannot get a standard credit card or ATM card, it is probably not appropriate for you and a conventional card would make more sense.
