Expert Reviews

From the CompareCards.com Editorial Team

The Citi Double Cash Credit Card, from our partner Citi, is the perfect card for earning cash back on all purchases without having to follow category restrictions throughout the year. What makes this card so unique is the ability for consumers to earn additional cash back just for making on-time payments. Citibank does advertise its products on our website.

With this card, you’re basically earning double cash back for doing what you already do on a monthly basis; making purchases and paying your bill. What’s more, you don’t need to enroll in any program, there’s no cap on the cash back you can earn and your cash back won’t expire.

Cardmembers will also enjoy 0% APR for the first 18 months on balance transfers. The on-going interest rate is 13.24 - 23.24% (Variable) and you pay no annual fee.

This is a great card. No fuss no mess, 1% when you buy and I% when you pay for the purchase. I have never had to ask for any concessions for late payment or anything like that. But I have found them to be very helpful and patient when I need additional information. I have nothing but good things to say about this card.

I love the 2% cash back, it builds up fast. The money can be transfer directly to your bank account, pay your credit card bill and other ways. The best card I ever had. I use it for everything and get cash back on everything.

Quick application and approval process. Great balance transfer and cash back offer. Simple way to pay online with a separate number. Need good to excellent credit to be approved. But it's a great card to have!

No hassle assistance with fraudulent charges. Great cash back rewards and very easy to claim. I like the direct deposit of rewards to my checking accounts. This is the best credit card I ever had.

Best credit card I have ever carried. Save the 2 percent for 18 months and then us the $$$ to buy a lost weekend somewhere. Everyone should carry it.

EXCELLENT CARD EASY TO USE AND PAYS MORE THAN ANY OTHER "SIMPLE TO USE" CARD OUT RIGHT NOW I PAY A LARGE PART OF MY BALANCE BUT EVEN WHEN I DON'T PAY THE WHOLE BALANCE OFF I'VE YET TO HAVE PAY AN INTEREST FEE AND I'VE HAD MY CARD FOR 8 MONTHS . MY ONLY PROBLEM IS THE THE NEW CHIP FORMAT , NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED WHAT MAKES IT EASIER FOR US SOMETIMES MAKES IT EASIER FOR CRIMINALS

Yes, the 2% back is great and you can use to buy anything form whoever accepts the card. But what most people don't know or understand is the incredible other benefits the card offers/provides which are equally incredible. Far and away THE BEST CARD WE'VE EVER HAD!!! And of course it's in my wallet and my wife's purse !

You can't beat the 2% cash back on this card. We put absolutely everything on this card and pay it off monthly to get the cash back benefit. You would be surprised at how much a year you can spend on your credit card! My only complaint is that it is a Mastercard and not a Visa. Costco has switched to Visa and it would be nice to use it there also. Other than that we love this cc.

The reason it is a master card is because the fees are lower for processing transactions and with Visa the fees are higher but you can apply for a Citi card to use at Costco and get the 2%

By: Sundae Rose Hines | Aug 15, 2016

I don't understand what the complaint is. Why would anyone rather have a Visa over a Mastercard?

By: Ken Tran | Dec 6, 2016

If you'd like to spend at Costco, you can use your Citi MasterCard to buy a gift card at Costco and then use it at Costco and still get the 2% back.

If you use the cashback redemption as credit statement option, you are forfeiting 1% cashback on payment, as it is not considered payment. I will never use this option again nor recommend you to use it.

Thanks for the heads up on this! It doesn't dissuade me from getting the card but it does inform how I will use the cashback redemption!

By: Robert Lynch | Sep 28, 2016

You are absolutely correct but if your usage is $50,000 per year (which is a lot more than mine) the 1% cashback is $500 so the loss is about $5.00 which I am willing to live with. Will they send out a cash rebate?
