Expert Reviews

Issued by Continental Finance, the FIT™ Platinum Mastercard® is a decent credit card option for those looking to establish or rebuild their credit.
The FIT™ Platinum Mastercard® is an unsecured credit card—meaning, it doesn't require a security deposit that will serve as your credit line. Additionally, the card reports to the three major credit bureaus and offers a potential credit limit increase after the first six months.
Just know that while the FIT™ Platinum Mastercard® offers an initial line of credit of $400, it also comes with a number of fees, including an annual fee, a processing fee and a monthly maintenance fee.
Expert Reviews of the FIT™ Platinum Mastercard®
The Bottom Line
Overall, the FIT™ Platinum Mastercard® is an acceptable option if you have bad credit or limited credit, since it offers a $400 initial credit limit without a security deposit and reports to the three major credit bureaus. However, due to the card’s numerous fees and extremely high interest rates, a secured credit card instead may be a less expensive option.
The Good
The FIT™ Platinum Mastercard®, which is open to applicants with good, bad or limited credit, is designed to help cardholders establish credit or improve their credit score and can be used anywhere Mastercard is accepted. In addition to reporting to the three major credit bureaus—TransUnion, Experian and Equifax, the card provides the opportunity to increase your credit limit after six months when you demonstrate responsible card usage, including paying your bill on time each month and keeping your card balance under your credit limit.
Although the FIT™ Platinum Mastercard® doesn’t come with a rewards program, it does offer benefits, such as $0 fraud liability, access to a free monthly credit score when you enroll in e-statements, online account management and credit protection. Also, when trying to build credit, credit card rewards should be a low priority anyway, as paying your balance in full and on time each month is what is most important.
The Not so Good
The FIT™ Platinum Mastercard® charges a number of costly fees, including a one-time processing fee of $89, a $99 annual fee, a monthly maintenance fee of $6.25 (not billed for the first 12 months of account opening) and a one-time additional card fee, if applicable. Some of these fees will be assessed before you start using your card, thereby reducing the amount of your initial available credit limit.
Additionally, with the FIT™ Platinum Mastercard®, you will be subject to a high purchase APR of 35.90% Fixed (variable) if you don’t pay your balance in full each month. But that’s to be expected from a credit card designed for individuals with less than perfect credit.
