The Bottom Line

This is a really good travel rewards cards for people who can qualify for it by having excellent credit. You can earn lots of miles and use in them in many different ways with no expiration dates or hidden fees.

The Good

Your miles will not expire, there is no cap on how many you can earn, and you can redeem them for all sorts of travel products and services such as flights, hotels, and car rentals. Those who qualify for the lower range of interest rates get a sweet 13.9% APR and the annual fee is waived for one year.

The Not so Good

Your credit has to be exceptionally good and there is a $59 annual fee after the first year of membership.

Rates & Term Details

From the CompareCards.com Editorial Team:

The Capital One Venture Rewards card is a really exceptional piece of plastic for those who want to earn some fast and flexible travel rewards. In fact it was named Money magazine’s “Best Rewards Card” for those who want to earn lots of airline miles, thanks to the fact that you get double miles on every purchase, all the time.

Not only that but you can redeem miles for virtually any kind of travel related expense and there are no limitations on how many miles you can rack up by using the program and card. Neither do your accumulated miles expire. You can get 10,000 bonus miles if you spend at least $1,000 during the first three months of card membership, too, and for those who travel overseas there are no pesky foreign transaction fees.

The card is for people with really good credit, however, and there is a $59 annual membership fee. But the fee is waived in the first year and the standard APR falls into the reasonable range of 13.9%-20.9%, depending upon your credit worthiness.

Review:

I have about 6 credit cards, including AE Platinum, but I find myself using this card exclusively because it gives me 2 points WHERE EVER I spend money. I haven't used any of the points yet, but when I spoke with CS they said, any airline, anywhere, anytime. I just couldn't resist !!!

I definitely would recommend this card to a friend.

Review:

I applied for this CC last year when they had the 100k mileage give away. I had a big problem getting them to send the 100k to my United Mileage Plus account. It took 3 month and spoke to about half the company to finally get it done. Another reason I got this card, besides the 100k give away was, according to their "important disclosures" which states, "You can transfer your rewards between this account and other U.S. Miles or Points accounts". Last week I wanted to transfer some of my Venture miles to another U.S. Miles account so I called their C.S. to find out what I needed to do. I was told I can do this. I was told I can only transfer between Capitalone rewards cards. I quoted to the CS rep what their disclosures states. After the CS rep spoke to 2 of her supervisors I was again told I could not make this type of transfer from my account. I told her that to me this was false and disceptive advertising and had I known that I could not make miles transfers like what the disclosures say I wouldn't have applied for the card and racked up the 149k miles that's in my account. She told me she was sorry, but their was nothing she could do for me. Actually Venture awards are not what they're cracked up to be when you buy a awards airline ticket. Example: for a business class ticket on Delta Airlines from Los Angles to Bangkok R/T costs $5,600. This means that that you would need to give up 560,000 miles from your Venture (2 miles for $1 charged) account to get the award ticket. However if you belonged to the Delta Miles program and had an affilated Credit Card (1 mile for $1 charged) that had 180,000 miles in the account you have enough miles to make the same award trip to Bangkok R/T. This Venture Awards card advertising of 2 miles for each $1 spent sound good, but your being hoodwinked and your a fool to sign up for one of their cards no matter what Mr. Baldwin says.

I definitely would not recommend this card to a friend.

2pts per dollar is such a deal! If I take my girlfriend to a movie, I get 72pts, I had my house painted: 4,000pts, bought a Bed: 3,900pts, go out to eat: 60pts... If that were my AMEX, the 8032pts I made on CapOne would only be 4,016. Then if you get down to it and look at the annual fees... the Capone is $59... I have to earn 5,900 pts (= spend $2,950) to get that fee back... pretty easy... with My AMEX, the fee is $175, and I have to earn 17,500 pts (= spending $17,500) This card is a no-brainer!

I definitely would recommend this card to a friend.

Review:

They say it's 0% APR, but I'm being charged 19%. I called and they say there is nothing they can do because their computer says one thing. I asked them to please look more into it and they say they won't unless I find proof. Well, I got this card on the phone just before moving across the country and so the only proof I have is their recorded phone call which they will not look up unless I send paper proof, which I don't have! I asked to speak to management and they were no more help. I asked for their corporate number and they gave me their media hotline (as if I couldn't get the number on Google, which I already had, just wanted to see if she'd give it to me). Great customer service Capital One! Go with a Citi Card, my wife has one and they have stuck to their promise of no interest!

I definitely would not recommend this card to a friend.

Review:

I have had this card for just under one year, and I am cancelling it. While they say you can earn bonus miles for purchases at select retailers when linking through their site, and in store after activating offers on their website, these miles have never automatically posted to my account, and I have had to waste a huge amount of time calling customer service to have these miles added. I finally cancelled when I had to call 4 times to get miles credited for a large purchase through Expedia. I ended up cancelling before they were ever credited.

I definitely would not recommend this card to a friend.
