If you’re looking for a reliable travel credit card that doesn’t charge an annual fee, it’s hard to beat the Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card. While many cards in this category have complicated rewards structures and hefty fees, this card stands out for offering a simple but valuable rewards rate, a sizable welcome bonus, and an appealing intro APR offer.
Here’s what you need to know:
And if you’re a Bank of America Preferred Rewards® member, you can stretch your rewards even further. Members can rake in 25-75% more points on every single purchase. That means instead of earning an unlimited 1.5 points for every $1, you could earn 1.87-2.62 for every $1 you spend on purchases.
The real value of this card comes from how uncomplicated the reward rate is. There are no rotating categories to track or quarterly hoops to jump through, just straightforward travel points on every single purchase. Cardholders get an appealing and uncomplicated 1.5 points per $1 spent on all purchases. 3 points per $1 spent on travel purchases booked through the Bank of America Travel Center.
Plus, there’s no limit to how much you can earn. Bank of America doesn’t cap how many travel points you can earn each quarter, so the sky’s the limit when it comes to your earning potential.
When you’re ready to cash in on your travel rewards, you’ve got options. The Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card lets you use your points as statement credits to cover a wide range of travel purchases.
You can use your points to cover purchases for:
New cardholders can take advantage of a pretty valuable welcome offer too. You can earn 25,000 online bonus points after you make at least $1,000 in purchases in the first 90 days of account opening - that can be a $250 statement credit toward travel purchases.
This isn’t the biggest sign-up bonus out there, but getting an extra $250 to put toward travel is nothing to sneeze at. Especially since the spending requirement is only $1,000 in 90 days, which feels pretty easy to achieve.
The Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card card is also well-suited for international travel. It doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees, which can end up saving you up to 3% per purchase when you’re overseas. A 3% charge might not seem like a lot at first, but when you’re already paying for international flights and hotels, those charges can add up fast.
Plus, it’s a VISA card, which means it will be accepted pretty much anywhere, globally.
This is a valuable credit card for anyone who wants to start earning travel rewards. It doesn’t come with some of the more premium level perks like statement credits to pay for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry that some high-end cards offer, but we think the straightforward (and valuable) rewards rate and the $0 annual fee make it a strong contender in the travel space.
