Expert Reviews

From the Editorial Team

If you are a fan of the Vancouver Canucks, this will be the card for you.  There was a professional hockey team in Vancouver from 1911, the Vancouver Millionaires.  They won the Stanley Cup in 1915, but were disbanded in 1926.  The Canucks joined the NHL in 1970 and have made it to the Stanley Cup Finals three times, losing each time.

New cardmembers show their spirit and double their earned cash back at the end of their first year. So if you earn a total of $200 in cash back after your first year of card membership, you will actually have $400 in cash back.

The NHL Discover it Card will earn cardholders 5% cash back in popular categories that rotate every quarter, up to $1,500 in purchases per quarter. After that, purchases will earn a flat 1% cash back. Rewards will never expire and can be redeemed any time, for any amount. There’s no annual fee to carry the card and you will pay 0% interest for the first 12 months on purchases and balance transfers, then 11.24% - 23.24%* Variable.

Additional benefits include no foreign transaction fees, no overlimit fee, free access to your FICO credit score, and account protections like Discover’s new Freeze It on/off switch.

The Bottom Line

Show your support for the Canucks and earn some great rewards too!

Cardholders can earn as much as 5% cash back in bonus spending categories and enjoy 0% APR as an introductory offer. This is a great credit card for consumers interested in earning a lot of cash back, especially in the first year of card membership.

The Good

Cardholders will earn 5% cash back on the first $1,500 in purchases in bonus spending categories, 1% cash back on all other purchases, and earned cash back is doubled after the first year! Pay no annual fee, no foreign transaction fees, no overlimit fee, and pay no penalty on your first late payment.

The Not So Good

You must have excellent credit to qualify for this offer. This rewards program is set up as a cash back program, so if you’re looking for a credit card that earns miles or can be transferred to other rewards programs, this wouldn’t be the right card for you.
