The Bottom Line

For those who spend big at Fairmont, the card offers some solid value – despite the rewards program restrictions and high annual fee.

The Good

The annual fee is waived for the first year, and there are no foreign transaction fees. You earn two complimentary nights if you make at least $3,000 in purchases within your first 3 months of account opening, plus a complimentary night each year that you make at least $12,000 in purchases with your card.
Use the card for Fairmont stays and earn 5 points per dollar or earn two points per dollar at airlines and car rental agencies. Earn 1 point per dollar on everything else.
By spending more on this card you can also upgrade your rewards program status to earn faster rewards.

The Not So Good

The annual fee is $95. The standard APR for purchases and balance transfers is 16.24%. The APR for cash advances is 25.24%. There is a surcharge on balance transfers of either $5 or 5% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater and a surcharge on cash advances of either $10 or 5% of each transaction, whichever is greater.
