The Bottom Line

This card rewards you for spending, both with cash bonuses as well as with chances to rack up rewards as high as 5%. There is no annual fee and although there are a few restrictions regarding special offers, they are pretty easy to comply with.

The Good

If you pay attention to the quarterly categories that qualify for 5% cash back you can maximize your rewards. Meanwhile, you can earn a $100 bonus cash back + a $25 Bonus by spending $500 on the card in the first 3 months, and by adding an authorized user and making a purchase in the same 3-month period.

The Not so Good

You can only get the 5% cash back in special categories that change quarterly, and you are limited to a $1,500 cap each quarter on 5% categories.

Notice how they failed to mention their transfer fee!!! That's because it's probably 10%. Calculate what that will cost you......

I have had a chase mastercard for 15+years and happy with it. Unfortunately it has been converted to a Visa card with the assumption I would be just as happy. I'm not as this card is not accepted as widely at businesses and I now have to assure I have cash to cover expenses as well. It's lost the convenience I once had and I'm searching for another mastercard.

Everything has been great for years except they now tell me they will not send your rewards check to your house. I like getting the check at my home to spend as I want.

I have this card because I needed one MC and one Visa. Just got a notice that as of June 2014 it is changing to Visa. I loved this card for the rewards and NOW I have to find another MC. Sam's club only takes MC charges for one thing and now I am mad at Chase.

The card is great for those consumers like myself seeking to maximize their rebates. I currently have the American Express card from Costco that offers 3% back on gas, 2% on travel, and 1% on everything else but the down side is not every merchant accepts AMEX. With the Chase freedom card the perks are similar in that with certain categories you get a certain percent back ( aka every 3 months you receive 5% back in a category) but the VISA logo is accept virtually everywhere. That means I can literally use my card everywhere except when I'm buying lemonade from little Suzy's Lemonade Stand. Or can I? I don't know. Kids now a days are pretty creative. Bottom line, the Chase Freedom card is a great for my family because it's widely accepted and as long as I pay of my balance each month, I won't accrue interest and my rebate will check will get bigger! Note: In order for any rewards card to make sense, the balance must be paid of each month otherwise, this would be a crapy card for those consumers with balances. Did you see the fine print? The interest is 12.99- 22.99%! Anywho, good card for my situation.

I really liked the intro APR and the standard rate is one of the lowest which is great, but I've been having trouble with the rewards program for months. Although this card does offer several opportunities to earn more than 1% on rewards, I haven't be receiving the rewards that that card told me I would even though I am using it to their regulations. I have reported this issue to customer service months ago and they STILL haven't given me my earned rewards or corrected the issue. The card sounds great if their program actually works!

This card works great for me. I use it for my monthly expenses (daycare, tuition, gas, services, groceries) and paying the full balance allows me to not pay interest, of course. I can take advantage of the rewards program that gives me at least $50 cash back monthly.

We have had the Chase Rewards card for 7 years with 5% back on gas, groceries and Drugs. Now we would only get one or the other for 90 days and then 1%. And to make it more difficult, in order to get the 5% on anything YOU HVE TO CALL OR SIGN IN ON LINE EVERY 90 DAYS OR YOU LOSE IT AND ONLY GET 1%. Try remembering to do that.I am looking for another bank card..
