Discover’s first credit card was launched in 1986 and is now one of the largest issuers of credit cards in the country. Though it has been a long journey competing with the big wigs of J.P.Morgan Chase and American Express, Discover is one of the most recognized brands in financial services today.

Discover It Card

A lot of consumers are hesitant to apply for a Discover credit card because they aren’t accepted by all merchants in the United States, but the fact is, over 90% of merchants in the United States accept Discover. The truth is though, the Discover cashback program is one of the best rewards credit card programs on the market earning cardmembers 5% cash back on categorical purchases and pay no annual fee.

Discover It customers love the payment forgiveness option. In an imperfect world, mistakes happen and Discover wanted to respect that by allowing cardmembers one free pass if they happen to miss a payment. If your due date got away from you and this is your first missed payment, Discover will waive the fee like it never happened. We always advise that consumers should set up automatic recurring payments, but if that’s not an option, you should at least set up a payment schedule with reminders and alerts.

Discover was one of the first banks, and is currently the largest bank, to offer their customers free FICO ™ credit scores on every statement. Their partnership with FICO® Score Open Access Program will keep customers informed of their credit score so they can always monitor their credit and act accordingly to help their credit building efforts. Besides all the perks that come with the Discover IT card, they are also a leader in technology and customer service.

Putting the Customer First

In a world with automated everything, all a consumer wants is to just speak with a real person who actually understands them and can solve their problems without pressing 80 buttons to get to an actual phone line just to be put on hold for another 30 minutes. Discover’s efforts to meet their customers’ needs have paid off and they have the recognition to prove it.

Last year Discover won two Call Center Excellence Awards. For the fourth year in a row, they placed first in Best Performance Acting on (the) Voice of the Customer and Voice of the Social Customer. They also won first in the Best Contact Center Learning, Development and Recognition Program Category.

There are many convenient ways to get customer support from Discover by phone, email, snail mail, and even through their social platforms. They recently ranked as one of best companies in credit card customer satisfaction, beating out Wells Fargo, Capital One, US Bank, and 6 others. Customers expressed they believe Discover credit card terms (rates and fees) are fair and clear, problem resolution is effective, and customers love the benefits and rewards. Discover treats you the way you want to be treated, but don’t take our word for it; see for yourself what customers have to say.

Shop with Peace of Mind

The news has been flooded over the last year with data breaches, security hacks and identity theft, leaving customers across the globe worried they can’t trust the security of their transactions. In 2012 Discover was ranked best in identity fraud resolution among the top U.S. credit card issuers. Discover protects their customers’ personal information by using technology and physical protection measures such as controls that prevent unauthorized access. On-site they have security guards and passcodes and locks on all offices.

Discover is also monitoring every customer’s every purchase, every day, looking for anything suspicious. If they find anything unusual, they contact the customer directly. Additionally, their team of Fraud Specialists are prepared to answer any questions 24/7 and have the capability to remove unauthorized purchases. Discover customers are able to monitor their own transactions online, on their phone, or on their statements. If you think something looks suspicious, please call their Fraud Specialists at 866-598-7835.
