Bass Pro Shops is every man's utopia. Sure, women can enjoy the fishing gear, hunting rifles, boats, clothing, etc., but we all know this place gets busy on Father's Day. Whether you're an avid shopper at the store or someone looking to buy gifts for the future, the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor Rewards MasterCard may be a great addition to your wallet. We've done the analysis to determine just that.

Here is a Bass Pro Shops Outdoor Rewards MasterCard review so you can determine if this is something you want to apply for.

Bass Pro Shops Credit Card Features

Here are some important features of the Bass Pro Shops credit card:

The Good

As you may expect, the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor Rewards card is great for people who like Bass Pro Shops. It allows you to save money in the long run because you get money back for all of your purchases. This may eventually lead to a free fishing pole or something else along those lines, depending on how much you use your card. Best of all, you don't have to go to the store to do your shopping.

Another great feature of the Bass Pro Shops credit card is the fact that you don't have to pay an annual fee. Many store credit cards will use annual fees as a way to get back some of their rewards giveaways, or they will charge a high APR. This card offers 0% APR for the first year you have the card, and then it potentially only jumps to 12.99%. That's pretty low for industry standards.

The Not So Good

One major issue with this credit card is that the rewards can only be redeemed at Bass Pro Shops. If you only shop there every once and a while, this card may not do much for you. It obviously works out great for true enthusiasts of Bass Pro Shops, but that is the only demographic it targets. Even the rewards structure is set up that way, with a mere 1% rewards for any purchases made outside of Bass Pro.

Perhaps a more significant issue though is the fact that this card employs tap and pay technology. This may seem like a convenience because you don't have to swipe your card at the register, but it is actually a big security risk. Tap and pay is a form of RFID technology, which is now one of the primary ways people steal credit card information. All they have to do is run a machine close to your wallet or pocket, and they can take everything they need to use your credit card. You can learn more about this issue and how to avoid it here, but for now, know that you will need extra protection when using this card.

The Bottom Line

The Bass Pros Shops Outdoor Rewards MasterCard does have a lot of benefits to offer Bass Pro customers. It gives them access to special discounts, and it rewards them for spending money at the store. For the rest of us though, there are more versatile rewards cards on the market that may be better to have. You can see our list of the best cash back credit cards to find a few options worth looking into, or you could look into a bigger list of rewards credit cards. Something like Chase Freedom or Discover It may be better for you.

If you think this is a good card for you, apply now to see if you qualify for one. Otherwise, check out some other great credit cards you can get rewards from. As long as you spend your money wisely, you can find a way to benefit from having a credit card.
