If Old Navy is your go-to store for a wardrobe refresh, you might be interested in signing up for an Old Navy credit card. There are two available: the Old Navy Visa Credit Card and the Old Navy Card. The former can be used anywhere Visa is accepted, while the latter is a store card you can only use at Old Navy. Earn up to $10 in bonus rewards. When you share your email address with Old Navy, you can earn 500 points. You can earn another 500 points for enrolling in paperless billing. That’s a total of 1,000 points, which is equivalent to $10 in rewards.
Potential for easier approval. Store credit cards tend to be more friendly to applicants with less-than-stellar credit histories. If you’re working to rebuild your credit, you may be more likely to be approved for the Old Navy Card, and could use it to build a responsible payment history.
Where the Old Navy credit cards fall short
You might only get a store card. You’ll find out after applying if you’re approved for the Old Navy Visa Credit Card or the Old Navy Card. There’s no guarantee you’ll get the Visa — which means you could end up with a store card you can’t use on outside purchases.
Limited rewards. For every 500 points you accrue, you’ll get $5 in rewards value. That means each point is worth 1 cent. When shopping at Old Navy and related brands, you’re effectively earning a 5% rewards rate, which is generous. But the Old Navy Visa Credit Card will only earn an effective 1% rate elsewhere, and you can’t use the Old Navy Card anywhere else.
Limited redemptions. Your rewards can only be redeemed toward purchases at Old Navy and related brands. Having a card that allows you to earn cash back into your bank account, or miles toward airline tickets, would offer more flexibility.
High APR. The regular purchase APR for the Old Navy Visa Credit Card is . For the Old Navy Card, it’s also . We always recommend paying your balance in full each month, but if you need to revolve a balance from month to month, you should know the high APR on these cards means you will be hit with expensive interest charges.
Points expire. If you go 24 months without making a purchase on your card, your points will expire.

It’s true the Old Navy credit cards earn more than the Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer as long as you’re shopping at Old Navy and retailers in the same family of brands. But the Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer earns more everywhere else — and even if you shop a lot at Old Navy, it’s probably not the bulk of your spending overall. The bottom line
If you love Old Navy and related stores — Athleta, Banana Republic and Gap — the Old Navy Visa Credit Card and Old Navy Card offer some great perks. But beware of carrying a balance on either card as they both come with very high APRs, which can make it difficult to pay off over time.
In most cases, a better choice is probably to apply for a cashback or travel card, if you can qualify. The Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer is a good choice.
