Club Carlson℠ offers one of the easiest programs to rack up hotel points quickly. While Club Carlson℠ points aren’t the most valuable points out there, they do offer many hotels around the world starting at just 9,000 points per night for redemption. Especially for travel in Europe and Africa, Club Carlson points offer great value and they’re even pretty solid for low- to mid-range hotels within the U.S.! Here’s what you need to know about earning and redeeming Club Carlson points.

What hotels can you book with Club Carlson℠ points?
You can book all participating Carlson Rezidor group brands with Club Carlson℠ points. These hotel brands include: Quorvus Collection, Radisson Blu®, Radisson®, Radisson RED, Park Plaza®, Park Inn® by Radisson, and Country Inns & Suites By Carlson.
How many points does a free night cost?
Free nights cost between 9,000 and 70,000 points for a standard room, and between 13,500 and 105,000 points for a premium room. There are 7 hotel categories.
|Category||Standard Room Cost||Premium Room Cost|
You can also use points + cash for standard rooms (from 5,000 to 20,000 points + a variable cash component). You earn points on the cash component. The cash requirement is available at the time of reservation and depends on the hotel category and demand but can be as low as $20 or as high as a few hundred. As a general rule, points + cash redemptions are pretty good value with Club Carlson℠, but always remember to see how much value you are going to get for your points before you redeem!
How much does an upgrade cost?
Room upgrades are available at the hotel through the “Express Awards” program at check-in, and start at 7,500 points. Redemption rates are determined by each property and are based on availability. If a higher level room is available at your hotel for your entire stay, an Express Award should be available.
Good deal redemptions
Some category 1 hotels should not be disregarded, such as the Park Inn Kaunas in Lithuania, that can cost up to $100, and for which a free night would only be 9,000 points, or a $200 Junior suite, 13,500 points. In this situation, your points are worth as much as 1.4 cents each, which is a pretty amazing value for Club Carlson℠ points!
It’s even possible to stay at Club Carlson℠’s premier Radisson Blu brand for only 9,000 points per night. This property generally costs around $140 per night, which gives you a value of more than 1.5 cents per point in value!
Cash + points can be a great deal at some high-end properties, especially for premium rooms. A $648 studio spa suite at the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney would 20,000 points + $342, giving you would get a great value of 1.53 cents per point.
The Radisson Blu Resort in Gran Canaria often costs $250-$300 per night during high season, or 50,000 points offering a value of .6 per points on the high end. A better choice would be to use your points for Points + Cash at a rate of $138 + 15,000 points per night. This gives you a higher value of 1.08 cents per point.
In general, the best use of Club Carlson℠ points is on hotels Europe, especially in bigger cities.
Can you turn Club Carlson℠ points into airline miles?
Yes: with a minimum of 2,000 points, you can transfer Club Carlson℠ points to airline miles. However, the rate is a terrible 10 Club Carlson℠ points for 1 airline mile: 2,000 points for 200 miles; 50,000 points for 5,000 miles and 100,000 points for 10,000 miles. Club Carlson℠ points can be transferred to more than 20 airline partners including: Aeromexico, Air Canada Aeroplan, Air China, American Airlines, Asiana, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Czech Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Emirates, Etihad, Frontier, Gulf Air, Icelandair, Japan Airlines, Jet Airways, KLM/Air France, LATAM, Lufthansa, Philippine Airlines, SAS, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Singapore, Southwest, and United.
What are Club Carlson℠ points worth?
The value of Club Carlson℠ points depends on what hotels you use them at and the cash rate during the time you stay. You should aim to get at least half a cent per point in value from your Club Carlson℠ points. With anything lower, you are likely better off earning points instead of redeeming them. It’s entirely possible to get one cent per point or more from your Club Carlson℠ points at the upper end.
Yes, it’s possible to share points. Silver Elite, Gold Elite and Concierge Elite members may transfer points from their account to another program member account upon request for no fee. All other members may transfer points to another program member residing in the same household provided that both individuals have been a program member for at least one year and the addresses for either account involved in the transfer have not been up updated within thirty days prior to the transfer request. If you are not an elite member, you cannot transfer points to someone that is not in your household.
It’s also possible to share points with anyone at a rate of $7.00 per 1,000 points shared. This is the same cost to purchase points, so it doesn’t make sense to pay this much to share points.
Like with many other rewards programs, it’s also possible to use your points to book a room for someone else online.
How do you earn points?
You earn 20 points per dollars on room rate, as well as food and beverage purchases. You can also earn points on car rentals and shopping partners (including online shopping via the Club Carlson℠ App) and it’s possible (but not recommended) to buy points. Points purchases cost $7.00 per 1,000 points and you can purchase a maximum of 40,000 points per calendar year. Club Carlson℠ also offers both personal and business credit cards so you can earn points even faster.
Which stays qualify to earn points?
Points are earned for dollars spent on room rate. Cash + points bookings earn points on the cash part of the rate. Points may be earned on up to three rooms booked under the same reservation. Interestingly, award stays and points + cash stays count towards elite status requirement.
What is the cancellation policy?
It varies slightly by property, but the general rule is free cancellation for awards up to 24 hours before check-in.
Do Club Carlson℠ points expire?
Yes, your Club Carlson℠ points will expire after 24 months with no activity on the account. Both earning and redeeming Club Carlson℠ points counts as account activity.
What cards earn Club Carlson℠ points?
There are four different cards issued by U.S. Bank that earn Club Carlson℠ points:
