If you’re looking to use your Hilton Honors points for a Hawaiian vacation, you have just a handful of properties from which to choose. The good news is they all have excellent accommodations and allow you to explore the natural beauty of Hawaii.

Because Hilton no longer offers a rewards chart to easily compare points values, it does require a bit of research to figure out which properties give you the best per point value based on the specific dates you wish to travel since value can vary by date and location.

In this article:

In general, a stay at a Hilton property will cost between 5,000 and 95,000 points per night — and by using Hilton’s points explorer tool, we found that for Hawaiian properties, you can expect to use a minimum of 50,000 points per night.

Prices do fluctuate depending on when you choose to travel and what type of room you want to book, so you should always check the actual cost of a room versus its value in points to determine which is the better deal.

That said, you can earn a good amount of those Hilton Honors points before you book with a Hilton Honors points credit card. If you’re a Hilton loyalist who books at least a few stays per year and spends a good amount on travel, dining and other categories, you can get closer to earning free stays during your planned trip to Hawaii and even get bumped up to Hilton Silver or Hilton Gold Status, which means additional benefits for you to enjoy.

Once you’ve started earning Hilton Honors points with your credit card, it’s time to start researching where you might like to stay. Here are our picks for your Hawaiian dream vacation, with the number of points required for one night’s stay.

Best for luxury

Grand Wailea Maui, A Waldorf Astoria Resort — 95,000 points

This resort has everything you’d want from a luxury vacation — spacious rooms, a gorgeous full-service spa and endless opportunities for aquatic adventures. Guests enjoy complimentary SCUBA lessons for first-time divers and then indulge in the exclusive Healing Waters of Maui™ Hydrotherapy circuit. Relax in any of the nine on-site pools and 2,000 foot lazy river by day, and experience The Grand Luau at Honua’ula at night.

Best for budget

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Alana Waikiki Beach — 50,000 points

For a less expensive cost than other nearby properties, this hotel is located in the heart of Waikiki within walking distance to the beach. And while it’s not beachfront, rooms feature a private lanai — a balcony — and the hotel has its own heated outdoor pool and deck with lovely views of the island.

Best for families

Hilton Waikoloa Village — 56,000 to 60,000 points

Dolphin encounters, hula dancing, ukulele lessons and exotic wildlife on site? Sounds like all the makings of a great family vacation. And that’s not even taking into account that you’ll be staying along 62 acres of Kohala Coast oceanfront on the island of Hawaii. There’s plenty for grown-ups and kids of all ages to enjoy, including two championship golf courses, eight tennis courts, three swimming pools and lagoon watersports.

Best for the beach

Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort — 60,000 points

A sister hotel to the aforementioned Hotel Alana, this hotel boasts 22 acres of white sand beach in Waikiki, and if that’s not enough, it has its own salt-water lagoon to enjoy. Set in gorgeous natural surroundings, the property also offers five swimming pools and a world-class spa. And you’ll never have to leave the resort if you don’t want to, with 20 restaurants and lounges on site.

Bottom line

When it comes to Hawaii, there’s so much beauty and tranquility to enjoy that it’s hard to not have a great experience. By using your Hilton HHonors points wisely, though, you might be able to stretch your budget and upgrade your experience even more. Be sure to take a moment to compare prices for your preferred travel dates so you can find the best deal.
