The information related to the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card and the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card has been collected by CompareCards and has not been reviewed or provided by the issuer of this card.

If you’re a loyal Amazon customer, the online retailer offers three credit cards that may provide special financing offers and earn you up to 5% back on Amazon.com purchases. These cards are the most beneficial for Amazon Prime members, since you earn higher rewards rates and can benefit from more perks — but they can also be helpful for occasional Amazon shoppers.

The choices you have include:

  • Amazon.com Store Card
  • Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card
  • Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card

The latter two can be used anywhere Visa is accepted, while the Amazon.com Store Card can only be used on purchases made at Amazon.com.

If you’re an avid Amazon shopper and want to take advantage of special financing offers, check out the Amazon.com Store Card. However, if you want a more versatile credit card that can be used outside of Amazon.com purchases, check out the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card, or the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card if you’re a Prime member.

Here’s a breakdown of the key features of each card:

*The 5% back at Amazon.com benefit cannot be combined with any special financing or equal pay offer.

Amazon.com Store Card

On eligible items, there may be special financing offers that boast “no interest if paid in full” within a set amount of time. Use caution with these offers since there’s deferred interest — once the interest-free period ends, a 27.49% variable APR applies. If you don’t pay your balance before the end of the 6-, 12- or 24-month special financing period, you’ll be hit with all the interest that accrued since the purchase date. This can add up to a lot of money considering the high APR, and may drag you into debt. Make sure you pay off any balances in full before the end of the special financing period so you avoid being hit with high interest charges.

Here are the special financing offers available:

  • No interest if paid in full within 6 months (after, 27.49% variable APR applies). Applies to any Amazon.com order of $149 or more.
  • No interest if paid in full within 12 months (after, 27.49% variable APR applies). Applies to any Amazon.com order of $599 or more.
  • No interest if paid in full within 24 months (after, 27.49% variable APR applies). Applies to any Amazon.com order of $799 or more.
  • Equal pay financing: 0% APR financing with 12 equal monthly payments. Available on purchases of select Amazon-sold products.

Note: If you’re a Prime member, or become one, you will automatically be upgraded to the Amazon Prime Store Card, which has all the same features of the Amazon.com Store Card plus the added benefit of rewards — you can earn 5% back at Amazon.com.*

*The 5% back at Amazon.com benefit cannot be combined with any special financing or equal pay offer.

Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card

The Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card is a good option if you’re not interested in special financing periods and want a card that can be used for more than just Amazon.com purchases. You can earn 3% back at Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market, 2% back at restaurants, gas stations and drugstores, 1% back on all other purchases.

Rewards can be redeemed for statement credit, electronic deposit into an eligible checking or savings account, points at Amazon.com, gift cards and more. Plus, there’s no minimum to redeem and 100 points = $1.

Tip: If you redeem points during checkout at Amazon.com, you miss out on earning any additional points on your purchase since you’re technically not using your card to pay. The points you miss out on are minor, but if you want to earn the most points possible, use your Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card at checkout. This allows you to earn points. Then, redeem your points for a statement credit.

This card also comes with a $50 Amazon.com gift card upon approval. If you apply and are approved at checkout, the gift card will be deducted from your purchase and any remaining balance on the gift card will be added to your account. If you apply without making a purchase, the gift card will be credited to your account.

Additional perks include:

  • Travel accident insurance: Pay for air, bus, train or cruise transportation with your card, and you may receive accidental death or dismemberment coverage of up to $500,000.*
  • Lost luggage reimbursement: You’re covered for up to $3,000 per passenger if you or an immediate family member’s checked or carry-on luggage is damaged or lost by the carrier.*
  • Baggage delay insurance: You may be reimbursed for essential purchases like toiletries and clothing if your baggage is delayed over six hours by passenger carrier (like a plane or train) up to $100 a day for three days.*
  • Auto rental collision damage waiver: When you pay for an eligible rental with your card, you may receive coverage for theft and collision damage. Note: Coverage is secondary to your personal insurance.*
  • Travel and emergency assistance: Receive referrals for legal and medical issues that may arise. Note: you’re responsible for the cost of any goods or services obtained.*
  • Roadside dispatch: If you need a tow, jumpstart, tire change or other service for your car, call 1-800-847-2869 to receive dispatch. Note: You’re responsible for the cost of services rendered.*
  • Visa Signature® Luxury Hotel Collection: With over 900 luxury hotels, the Visa Signature® Luxury Hotel Collection provides superior perks including competitive rates, complimentary room upgrades (when available), free Wi-Fi (when available), and more.*
  • Visa Signature® Concierge Service: Representatives are available 24/7 to help you with a wide range of requests from making dinner reservations to finding tickets for events to sending gifts.*

Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card

The Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card has all the same benefits of the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card, but it offers a higher rewards rate at Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market. You can earn 5% back at Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market, 2% back at restaurants, gas stations and drugstores, 1% back on all other purchases. This card is a great choice if you have Prime, or if you’re thinking of trying it. You receive a $70 Amazon.com gift card upon approval, that offsets some of the annual Prime membership (currently $119 a year, or $12.99 a month).

This card is also a great choice for Whole Foods Market customers since you can earn 5% back on those purchases. Due to Amazon acquiring Whole Foods Market, Prime members now benefit from exclusive savings and deals at Whole Foods Market. You can receive an extra 10% off select items at Whole Foods Market, exclusively for Amazon Prime members. If you use an Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card in unison with 10% discounts, that brings your effective rewards rate to a fantastic 15%.

Note: The 10% Prime discount is deducted at checkout, while the rewards you earn from using your Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card will appear on your next statement.

What about cards that offer Amazon.com as a bonus category?

You may come across some cashback cards that may include Amazon.com as a 5% bonus cashback category for a few months out of the year. While those cards can be beneficial, they typically set limits on how much cash back you can earn at the 5% rate. And, Amazon.com purchases tend to be a bonus category for only three months. So, if you shop at Amazon.com year-round, one of the Amazon-branded credit cards would earn you more cash back in the long run.

Bottom line

If you often make purchases at Amazon.com, one of the Amazon-branded credit cards can be a great asset. The Amazon.com Store Card is a good option for special financing offers, while the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card and the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card are more beneficial if you want to earn a great rewards rate at Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market.

These offers and/or promotions have since changed, expired or are no longer available.
