I have held two accounts with Capital One for over seven years now. They were the first to extend me credit after my husbands death, and exorbitant medical expenses which led me into bankruptcy. Their statements are complete, easy to read, and come regularly. On an occasion or two, due to unusual circumstances, when my payment was a few days past due, they have been very understanding and forgiving. Cap-One Phone service is also the most kind and informed than any other Credit, Computer and Other Misc. Technical Services, or Utilities which I have ever had to conduct phone business with. Waiting times are reasonable and I would highly recommend Capital One with a 10 in all areas.

I HAVE TO AGREE WITH GINNY ALMOND. MY CREDIT WAS AND STILL IS IN NEED OF HELP, BUT CREDIT ONE HAS BEEN KIND ENOUGH TO GIVE ME THE CREDIT I NEEDED. THEY WILL MOST DIFFENTILY WORK WITH YOU IF YOU FALL BEHIND ON PAYMENTS AND WILL NOT CANCEL YOUR CARD LIKE ALL THE OTHERS. I RECOMMEND THEM HIGHLY. THEY ARE THE BEST OF THE BEST.

my credit is bad which credit card will do most good

By: CompareCards | Dec 22, 2015

Hi Tony,

If you are trying to build your credit, any credit card that you use responsibly will help bring up your score. The key is to only make purchases that you know you can pay off in full each month, and always make sure you pay your bill on time. Since you have bad credit, you'll probably have to start with a secured card, which requires a refundable security deposit to get approved. The Capital One Secured MasterCard would be a great option to start with! After a year or so of responsible use, you should be able to get approved for a standard, unsecured credit card.

Hi Theodore,

I you have excellent credit, you should be able to get approved for a credit card that will offer 0% APR for 18 months or longer. A great place to start would be the Citi Diamond Preferred Card which actually offers 0% APR on new purchases and balance transfers for 21 months!

Looking for an AAdvantage Visa credit Card with no foreign transaction fees, must also give sign up bonus.

By: CompareCards | Dec 17, 2015

Hi Kevin,

There are a few AAdvantage credit cards to consider. First, the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select offers a limited time 50,000 miles sign up bonus! The annual fee is $95, but it's waived the first year and there are no foreign transaction fees There is also the Citi AAdvantage Executive World Elite MasterCard that offers 50,000 bonus miles. The annual fee here is $450, but it comes with an admirals club membership, the ability to earn EQMs, and a number of other great perks. Finally, the CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select is a business card that also offers 50,000 bonus miles and a host of great perks.

I need credit card for dental work, my credit is poor, which I am building now.. I don't qualify for "Care Credit".. anyone have any ideas?

By: CompareCards | Dec 15, 2015

Hi Jeanne,

If you have poor credit, you will probably have to start with a secured credit card, which unfortunatly will not be very useful in paying off your medical bills. Secured credit cards are a good tool to help consumers with poor credit build their score, but you have to put down a refundable security deposit to get approved. While you're building credit, it's best to only use your card for purchases that you know you can pay off in full when you get your bill. This is esspecially true for secured cards, because they typically come with high interest rates.

By: Susan Harris | Dec 19, 2015

Hi Jeanne, there are a few other credit cards you can apply for that are for people with poor to challenging credit issues. Yes, Capital One is a very good one, as well as some others that require you to pay a fee up front. However, I have a couple friends that applied for Credit One it is a non-secured card and they were able to build their credit up quite fast. Do a lot of research first, look at the fee's the credit card company charges a consumer.

By: Patty Hendon Dec.12,2015. I would like a credit card with balance transfers available . I want to consolidate all my accounts to a lower interest rate and one payment. The total would be about $3,000. My credit is upper 600's. I have one collection that should not be on my report and the WA. state attorney's office is suing the company because of their numerous complaints. My retirement income is 23,000 a year. No mortgage payments. Can you help please?

By: CompareCards | Dec 16, 2015

Hi Patty,

The credit card that sounds like it would be the best fit for your situation is the Chase Slate card. This card offers 0% APR for the first 15 months on balance transfers and there is no fee for transfers made within the first 60 days. With a credit score in the upper 600s, you have a good shot of getting approved!

I'm looking for a credit card that is going to help with emergency and little things that come up

By: CompareCards | Dec 11, 2015

Hi Linda,

The main thing that you'll want to look for in a credit card for emergencies are few fees and low interest rates. A couple cards to consider would be the Barclaycard Ring MasterCard, the Citi Diamond Preferred, and the BankAmericard Visa Credit Card .

0% Credit Cards & Interest Free Credit Cards

Low interest rate (or 0%) credit cards can save you hundreds of dollars on balance transfers and on routine purchases carried over as credit card balances. Or you may simply want to be rewarded with a preferential interest rate as acknowledgement for good credit history and responsible debt management. Whatever your goals or motivation, zero percent or low interest credit cards can help you maintain the lowest rates available to individuals with excellent to good credit. You can find out more about credit score here.

Keep in mind that there are two main categories of low rate credit cards, namely those that offer a Variable APR and those that give you a Fixed APR.  Just like with variable versus fixed rate mortgages, a fixed rate APR will remain relatively stable through the course of the loan. If your card company decides to raise it – which is somewhat rare – they will first notify you of that change according to Federal law requirements. With a variable rate, your APR is tied to a prevailing rate such as the Prime Interest Rate. If the prime rate increases then your APR will most likely follow in a similar fashion.

Generally speaking, credit card companies and banks will extend either 6 or 21 month offers – within the 0% to 3.99% annual interest rate range. That can generate a considerable discount when normal APRs are averaging around 15% or higher. Once the introductory promotional period expires, the APR on a low interest credit card or interest free credit card may revert to the regular interest rate. Of course the ideal balance is a credit card that offers a great near term rate followed by an attractive, competitively priced low interest rate for the long term.

The interest rate charged on your credit card is widely regarded as the single most important component of your card. That’s because it determines the major cost for you to borrow or roll over balances and pay them off over time instead of all at once or within the same month that you make purchases. That’s why getting a zero percent or low interest credit card can be huge financial boon, no matter what your credit card usage patterns or money management strategies may be.
