Earn 3X points on eating out and ordering in, 3X points on gas stations, rideshares and transit, and 3X points on travel including flights, hotels, homestays and car rentals. Earn 1X points on other purchases.

What else we like

Sign-up bonus. Along with a generous rewards rate on everyday purchases, cardholders earn 30,000 bonus points when you spend $3,000 in purchases in the first 3 months of card membership.

No foreign transaction fees. You won’t be charged additional fees to use your Wells Fargo Propel American Express® card to make purchases outside of the U.S.

Annual fee. The annual fee for the Wells Fargo Propel card is $0.

What to look out for

Balance transfer fee. Although the Wells Fargo Propel American Express® card offers an intro APR of 0% for 12 months on qualifying balance transfers, then 15.99%-27.99% (Variable), keep in mind that you will be charged a fee for each transfer. The balance transfer fee is 3% for 120 days, then 5%.

Redemption restrictions. Cash redemptions are only available in increments of $25 by phone or online, and in increments of $20 from a Wells Fargo ATM. You must have a Wells Fargo debit or ATM card to redeem rewards at a Wells Fargo ATM.

Sign-up bonus. As a cardholder, you’ll earn a $150 cash bonus after spending $500 in the first 3 months of card membership. Plus, earn 1.8% cash back on purchases when using a qualified digital wallet purchases — including Apple Pay and Google Pay — during the first 12 months.

Intro APR on purchases and balance transfers. The Wells Fargo Cash Wise Visa® Card offers an intro APR of 0% for 15 months on purchases, then a 15.99%-27.99% (Variable) APR applies. The card also offers an intro APR of 0% for 15 months on qualifying balance transfers, then a 15.99%-27.99% (Variable) APR applies.

No annual fee. The Wells Fargo Cash Wise Visa® Card comes with a $0 annual fee.

What to look out for

Minimum threshold for redemptions. Cash redemptions are only available in increments of $25 by phone or online, and in increments of $20 from a Wells Fargo ATM. You must have a Wells Fargo debit or ATM card to redeem rewards at a Wells Fargo ATM.

Foreign transaction fees. If you use your card outside of the U.S., you will be charged 3%.

Wells Fargo® Visa Signature® Credit Card: Best if you want to earn rewards on groceries

The Wells Fargo® Visa Signature® Credit Card is a great card if you prefer cooking at home rather than dining out. Additionally, if you have a long daily commute or frequently make purchases at drugstores, this card will reward you for that. The card offers 5x rewards points earned for up to $12,500 spent on gas, grocery, and drugstore purchases for the first 6 months and 1x points on other purchases.

What else we like

50% boost on rewards. You’ll get 50% more value from your rewards when you redeem them for airfare. For example, 20,000 points are worth $200 when redeemed for cash, but worth $300 when redeemed for airfare.

No annual fee. The Wells Fargo Visa Signature card comes with a $0 annual fee.

What to look out for

Limit on bonus rewards. You will only earn the 5-point rewards rate on the first $12,500 spent on gas, grocery and drugstore purchases for the first six months of card membership.

No sign-up bonus. The card does not come with a sign-up bonus, so you’ll have to work a little harder if you want to earn a large influx of rewards in a short period of time.

Wells Fargo Rewards Visa® Credit Card: Best if you want an alternative to the Wells Fargo® Visa Signature® Credit Card

The Wells Fargo Rewards Visa® Credit Card and the Wells Fargo® Visa Signature® Credit Card are very similar. Along with sharing the same annual fee and introductory APRs, the cards offer the same rewards rate.

What else we like

Rewards rate. Like the Wells Fargo® Visa Signature® Credit Card, the Wells Fargo Rewards Visa® Credit Card offers 5x rewards points earned for up to $12,500 spent on gas, grocery, and drugstore purchases for the first 6 months and 1x points on other purchases.

Intro APR on purchases and balance transfer. The Wells Fargo Rewards Visa® Credit Card offers an intro APR on purchases of 0% for 15 months, then 18.24% to 27.74% (Variable) and an intro APR on balance transfers of 0% for 15 months, then 18.24% to 27.74% (Variable).

No annual fee. The annual fee on the Wells Fargo Rewards Visa® Credit Card is $0.

What to look out for

No 50% boost on rewards. Although the Wells Fargo Rewards Visa® Credit Card offers the same rewards rate as the Wells Fargo® Visa Signature® Credit Card, it does not offer 50% more value on rewards when redeemed for airfare.

Higher starting regular APR. Despite sharing the same intro APR on purchases and balance transfers, the starting APR for the Wells Fargo Rewards Visa® Credit Card is slightly higher than that of the Wells Fargo® Visa Signature® Credit Card. The Wells Fargo Rewards Visa® Credit Card offers an APR of 18.24% to 27.74% (Variable), compared to an APR of 14.24% to 27.74% (Variable) for the Wells Fargo® Visa Signature® Credit Card.

The Wells Fargo Platinum card offers the longest introductory APR on purchases among these cards, making the card ideal if you’re planning to purchase a big ticket item and pay it off over time (although we do recommend paying off your balance in full each month). Cardholders enjoy an introductory APR on purchases of 0% for 18 months. After that, the APR is 17.49%-26.99% (Variable).

What else we like

Intro APR on balance transfers. If you plan to transfer a balance from a different credit card, the Wells Fargo Platinum card also offers the longest intro APR on balance transfers among these cards. Cardholders receive an intro APR on balance transfers of 0% for 18 months on qualifying balance transfers. After that, the APR is 17.49%-26.99% (Variable).

No annual fee. The card offers a $0 annual fee.

What to look out for

Balance transfer fee. Although the Wells Fargo Platinum card offers a long intro APR on balance transfers, keep in mind that you will be charged each time you transfer a balance. The card comes with a balance transfer fee of 3% for 120 days, then 5%.

No rewards. The card does not offer a sign-up bonus or a rewards rate.

Wells Fargo Cash Back College Visa® Card: Best if you are a college student

The Wells Fargo Cash Back College Visa® Card is designed for students. In addition to helping build credit history while in college, the card offers cash back on every purchase. Cardholders earn 3% cash rewards on gas, grocery, and drugstore net purchases for 6 months of card membership, and 1% cash back on everything else thereafter.

What else we like

Build your credit. Because Wells Fargo reports your payment and usage behavior to the major credit bureaus, you can build your credit score by paying your bill on time and by keeping your balance low.

Intro APR on purchases and balance transfers. The Wells Fargo Cash Back College Visa® Card offers a 0.00% introductory APR for 6 months on  purchases, then 13.40% – 23.40%, and a 0% introductory APR for 6 months on balance transfers, then 13.40% – 23.40%.

No annual fee. The Wells Fargo Cash Back College Visa® Card lets you earn cash back and has a $0 annual fee.

What to look out for

Lower rewards rate after intro period. You will only earn 1% cash rewards on every purchase once the introductory offer ends.

Existing Wells Fargo relationship needed. To apply for the Wells Fargo Cash Back College Visa® Card, you will need to have an existing Wells Fargo relationship. Otherwise, you will have to apply at a Wells Fargo branch.

Wells Fargo Secured Visa® Credit Card: Best if you want to establish or rebuild credit

If your goal is to establish credit history or beef up a sagging credit score, the Wells Fargo Secured Visa® Credit Card will be your best bet. Once approved for the card, you’ll be required to deposit as little as $300 — which will then be used as your line of credit.

What else we like

Build credit history. Wells Fargo will report your card activity to the major credit bureaus.

Upgrade to an unsecured card. With responsible credit card usage, you may be eligible to upgrade your Wells Fargo Secured Visa® Credit Card to an unsecured Wells Fargo card.

Available to foreign nationals. U.S. citizens, permanent residents and nonresident aliens are all eligible to apply for the Wells Fargo Secured Visa® Credit Card.

What to look out for

Annual fee. You will be charged $25 per year to use this card.

Existing Wells Fargo account. You need to have an existing savings or checking account from Wells Fargo in order to apply for the card online.
