If you’re looking for a card with an easy-to-earn sign-up bonus and competitive flat-rate rewards, the Wells Fargo Cash Wise Visa® card is a solid choice. You can earn a $150 cash rewards bonus when you spend $500 in purchases in the first 3 months, as well as earn unlimited 1.5% cash rewards on purchases.

Let’s take a look at whether you’re eligible for the sign-up bonus, how you can use it and other ways you can earn rewards with this card.

In this post:

Are you eligible for the Wells Fargo Cash Wise Visa® card sign-up bonus?

Before applying for this card, you should take stock of whether you’ve recently applied for other Wells Fargo credit cards (even if you have since closed them). The terms and conditions for the Wells Fargo Cash Wise Visa® card specifies that you may not be eligible for bonus rewards offers, intro fees, and/or the card’s introductory APR — which is 0% intro APR for 15 months from account opening on purchases and 0% intro APR for 15 months from account opening on qualifying balance transfers, then a 14.49%-24.99% variable APR on purchases applies and a 14.49%-24.99% variable APR on balance transfers applies — if you meet the following criteria:

  • You opened a Wells Fargo credit card within the last 15 months.
  • You received an introductory APR, fees, and/or bonus rewards offers on that card.

In addition, if you’ve opened a Wells Fargo credit card in the past six months, you may not qualify for an additional credit card from the issuer.

Finally, to earn the sign-up bonus, you have to meet the spending requirement. Luckily, it’s a fairly easy spending requirement to meet. At least $500 in net purchases must post to your account within three months of opening the card. That averages out to about $167 per month.

How can you use your sign-up bonus?

The Wells Fargo Cash Wise Visa® card earns Go Far Rewards, which can be redeemed for options such as statement credits, cash back, travel, gift cards and merchandise. Go Far points are generally worth 1 cent each.

When redeeming for cash back, you can do so in $25 increments by phone or online, or in $20 increments at an ATM (you must have a Wells Fargo debit or ATM card). You can also put your cash back toward eligible Wells Fargo accounts such as loans and mortgages.

Some of the ways you can use points for travel are as follows:

  • Airline tickets
  • Car rentals
  • Cruises
  • Hotel room rentals
  • Vacation packages

Not all redemption options are available online. For the ones that aren’t, you’ll need to call Wells Fargo Go Far Rewards Customer Service at 1-877-517-1358.

Transferring rewards

You can transfer Go Far points to another Wells Fargo member, or contribute them to a shared points pool. For example, you could create a shared points pool for family members to contribute points to go toward the costs of a family reunion or holiday gathering.

When redeeming rewards to another Wells Fargo customer’s account, you can either use your points as a deposit into their checking or savings account or as a credit to a credit product.

Other ways to earn rewards

With this card, you can earn unlimited 1.5% cash rewards on purchases. And you can earn 1.8% cash rewards on qualified digital purchases made with Apple Pay® or Google Pay™ during the first 12 months from account opening.

The bottom line

The Wells Fargo Cash Wise Visa® card is a good choice if you want a sign-up bonus with a low spending requirement. Earning a $150 cash rewards bonus when you spend $500 in purchases in the first 3 months should be fairly easy if you put the bulk of your spending on this card for the first few months at least. Plus, the ongoing rewards rate is competitive and Go Far rewards are flexible.
