USAA® Preferred Cash Rewards Visa Signature® Card pros

Rewards. 1.5% cash back on all qualifying purchases

Cash back can be redeemed as a statement credit or a deposit into a USAA checking or savings account. Some credit cards have a minimum redemption requirement of $25, but you can redeem cash back earned with the USAA® Preferred Cash Rewards Visa Signature® Card starting at $1.

No annual fee. Since the annual fee for this card is $0, any rewards you earn are net cash back in your wallet (as long as you don’t incur interest charges by rolling over a balance).

No foreign transaction fee. When traveling outside the United States, you can take this card along without having to worry about paying an extra fee on every transaction — there is n/a.

Concierge services. Whether you need advice on restaurants or gifts, or you’re trying to arrange travel or concert tickets, get help from a concierge that’s available 24/7.

Extended warranty protection. On an original manufacturer’s warranty of three years or less, add up to a year of additional protection when you buy the item with this credit card.

Potentially low APR. This card’s APR is 11.90% - 25.90% variable. However, if your credit score isn’t great, you risk ending up with a very high APR.

Plus, when you enter qualified military service, debt that you incurred on the credit card before that point will qualify for a reduced APR of 4%. This is better than the 6% reduced interest rate required for credit cards by the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA).

  • Travel accident insurance. Pay for your trip with your card and you may receive coverage for accidental death or dismemberment up to a maximum of $500,000.

USAA® Preferred Cash Rewards Visa Signature® Card cons

Competing cards offer higher rewards. Earning 1.5% cash back is a fair rewards rate. However, some other flat-rate credit cards offer up to 2% cash back on every purchase.
