The U.S. Bank Business Select Rewards Card is a no-fee card that lets small business owners determine how they earn rewards. Cardholders can earn 3 points on day-to-day expenses, automotive or travel and entertainment, depending on the bonus category you choose, and 1 point everywhere else.

The bonus categories for the U.S. Bank Business Select Rewards Card cover a broad range of purchases. The day-to-day expenses category includes shipping, advertising, utilities, office supplies, telecom and professional services. The automotive category includes gas, service, tires, tolls, dealerships, car washes and repairs, while the travel and entertainment category includes airlines, rental cars, hotels, restaurants and travel agencies.

Additionally, cardholders earn 20,000 extra points when you spend $1,000 in eligible net purchases within the first 90 days after opening your account. Points can be redeemed for travel, gift cards, merchandise and cash back.

Read on for everything you need to know about the U.S. Bank Business Select Rewards Card, including where it stands out, where it falls short, and how it compares to the U.S. Bank FlexPerks® Business Travel Rewards Card.

Where the U.S. Bank Business Select Rewards Card falls short

No intro APR on balance transfers. If you’re planning to transfer a balance from a different credit card, the U.S. Bank Business Select Rewards Card is not ideal, since it doesn’t offer an introductory APR on balance transfers. Plus, the card comes with a fee of either 3% of the amount of each transfer or $5 minimum, whichever is greater..

Foreign transaction fees. The U.S. Bank Business Select Rewards Card charges 2% of each foreign purchase transaction or foreign ATM advance transaction in U.S. Dollars. If you have an upcoming trip planned outside for overseas, you’ll be better off taking a card that doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees.

Compare it with the U.S. Bank FlexPerks® Business Travel Rewards Card

Similar to the U.S. Bank Business Select Rewards Card, the U.S. Bank FlexPerks® Business Travel Rewards Card offers bonus points in a variety of categories. Cardholders earn 2 FlexPoints on gas, office supply store or airline purchases (whichever you spend the most on each billing cycle), 2 FlexPoints on qualifying charitable donations and cellular services providers and 1 FlexPoint on everything else. Additionally, cardholders earn 25,000 flex points after you spend $2,000 on eligible net purchases within the first 4 months of opening your account.

See how the two cards compare side-by-side in the table below:
