If you’re a fan of Uber and Uber Eats, you might like the Uber Visa Card’s current sign-up bonus — Earn $100 in Uber Cash after spending $500 on purchases in the first 90 days from account opening. The card’s ongoing rewards are nothing to sneeze at either, with rewards rates of 5% back in Uber Cash on Uber rides, Uber Eats, and JUMP, 3% in Uber Cash on restaurants, bars, hotels, and airfare, and 1% back in Uber Cash on all other purchases.
Let’s take a look at what the sign-up bonus is worth, options for redeeming it and whether this card is a good fit for your financial needs.

Are you eligible for the Uber Visa Card sign-up bonus?
The sign-up bonus is aimed at new cardmembers. Existing cardmembers cannot get the bonus — and if you’ve ever had the Uber Visa Card, canceled it and applied again, you still won’t qualify.
Other than those stipulations, if you’re eligible to earn the sign-up bonus, you’ll have to meet the spending requirement of $500 on net purchases within 90 days from the account open date. Credits, returns and adjustments don’t count toward net purchases. If you spend about $167 a month on this card, it shouldn’t be difficult to meet the $500 requirement within that time frame.
How can you use your sign-up bonus?
The main downfall of the Uber Visa Card is that you can only redeem rewards as Uber Cash. Previously you could have redeemed for cash back, but that changed with an October 2019 revamp of the rewards structure. Still, if you frequently use the Uber ecosystem, this might not bother you.
Uber Cash can be used to pay for the following:
- Uber rides
- Orders with Uber Eats
- JUMP bikes and scooters
There’s no minimum redemption amount — you can redeem your Uber Cash starting at 1 cent. Plus, when you hit $50 in Uber Cash earned on your Uber Visa Card, those rewards will automatically be transferred to your Uber account the next time you access your Uber apps.
Other ways to earn rewards
You can earn 5% back in Uber Cash on Uber rides, Uber Eats, and JUMP, 3% in Uber Cash on restaurants, bars, hotels, and airfare, and 1% back in Uber Cash on all other purchases.
One great thing about the 3% category is that in addition to traditional hotels, you can earn rewards on home share exchanges — which, for instance, means you can earn rewards on an Airbnb stay.
If you add an authorized user to your card, they can also earn Uber Cash. However, it can only be redeemed to the primary cardholder’s Uber account.
The bottom line
While the sign-up bonus on the Uber Visa Card isn’t the most generous on the market, it’s got a fairly easy-to-meet spending requirement. And if you are a big fan of using Uber to get home after a Friday night on the town, or staying in and ordering from your favorite Chinese restaurant via Uber Eats, you might like earning Uber Cash that you can use for those activities.
For ongoing value, the card’s rewards rate is generous when it comes to Uber, Uber Eats and JUMP. It’s hard to beat 5% back — and earning 3% on travel and dining purchases is solid, too.
