If you’re a business owner looking to earn and redeem airline Southwest miles on business travel, the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card should be on your radar.

The card recently launched a generous sign-up bonus that lets new card members earn up to 100,000 points: Earn 70,000 points after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months. Plus, earn an additional 30,000 points after you spend $25,000 on purchases in the first 6 months. This is a great opportunity to earn a large influx of Rapid Rewards points — getting you that much closer to earning the highly coveted Southwest Companion Pass.

Keep in mind that the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card charges an annual fee of $199. However, the value you can get from the card’s annual bonus and rewards rate can help offset that amount each year.

Are you eligible for the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card sign-up bonus?

If you’re a current cardholder of the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card, or if you have received a new cardmember bonus for this card in the past 24 months, you may not be eligible to receive the current sign-up bonus offer.

Because this is a business credit card, you will also be required to provide certain information about your company — such as the legal business name and the tax identification number — during the application process.

How can you use the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card sign-up bonus?

You can redeem your Southwest Rapid Rewards points the following ways:

Airfare. You can redeem Rapid Rewards points for any available seat on any flight booked through Southwest, as well as other products and services approved by Southwest.

However, know that the amount of points required to purchase a ticket is subject to change at any time until the ticket is booked and may vary based on a variety of factors, including destination, time, date of travel, demand and fare class. In addition, you cannot use points to purchase special fares, such as senior, infant, child, military and government fares.

Gift cards. Points can be redeemed for gift cards from a broad range of popular retailers, such as CVS, Disney, Foot Locker, HelloFresh, Hotels.com, PetSmart, Spotify, Topgolf, Wayfair and much more.

Merchandise. Rapid Rewards points can be redeemed to purchase a variety of merchandise, including electronics, cosmetics, apparel, major kitchen appliances and sporting goods. For example, you can use the current sign-up bonus to purchase a Samsung 55-inch Smart 4K TV (at 98,637 points).

Hotel stays. You can redeem Rapid Rewards points to book hotel stays at more than 70,000 properties across the globe.

Rental cars. You can also use rewards to rent cars from a number of rental car agencies, including Avis, Budget, Enterprise and Hertz.

Donations. Cardholders can donate Rapid Rewards points to charities that are preselected by Southwest.

Other ways to earn Southwest Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card rewards

Along with the sign-up bonus, cardholders can earn Rapid Rewards points in the following ways:

Rewards rate. The Southwest Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card lets cardholders earn the following rewards rate: 3 points per $1 spent on Southwest® purchases. 2 points per $1 spent on social media and search engine advertising, Internet, cable and phone services. 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases.

“Southwest purchases” refers to purchases made directly with Southwest Airlines — including flights, inflight purchases, Southwest gift cards and Southwest Airlines Vacation packages — and at participating hotels and rental car partners.

Anniversary bonus. Receive 9,000 bonus points each year after your account anniversary. “Account anniversary year” refers to the year beginning with your account open date through the anniversary of your account open date — and every 12 months after that.

Referral bonus. Southwest Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card members can earn up to 50,000 bonus points each year when they invite friends to apply for any Southwest Rapid Rewards credit card, and the friends are approved. Cardholders earn 10,000 bonus points for each referral who is approved — up to five referrals per year.

Authorized users. If you add authorized users to your account, you will earn points for every purchase they make using their card.

With the sign-up bonus currently at an all-time high, now is the ideal time to apply for the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card. Along with the sign-up bonus, the card offers a generous amount of Rapid Rewards from the card’s anniversary bonus and rewards rate.

But if the annual fee of $199 is a bit too steep for your liking, you may want to consider the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card instead. While the card offers a lower sign-up bonus and rewards rate than the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card, it also charges a considerably lower annual fee.

With an annual fee of $99, the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card lets cardholders earn 60,000 points after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open. Additionally, cardholders earn 2 points per $1 spent on Southwest® purchases.
