If you are a Marriott Bonvoy loyalist, a Marriott Bonvoy-branded credit card — like the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card — should be on your radar. In addition to offering hotel perks, such as automatic elite status, the card comes with a generous sign-up bonus: Earn 75,000 Bonus Points after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.
Although the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card comes with a $95 annual fee, the value of the sign-up bonus alone more than makes up for that cost.
In this post, we’ll break down the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card’s current offer, including if you qualify for the sign-up bonus, how to use the sign-up bonus and additional ways to earn bonus points.
In this post:
- Are you eligible?
- How can you use your sign-up bonus?
- Transferring points
- Other ways to earn rewards
- The bottom line
Are you eligible?
You are not eligible to receive the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card’s new cardmember bonus if any of the following applies to you:
- You are a current cardholder, or were a previous cardholder within the past 30 days, of the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant™ American Express® Card.
- You are a current or previous cardholder of Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card and received a new cardmember bonus or upgrade bonus in the last 24 months.
- You applied and were approved for the Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card or Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant™ American Express® Card within the past 90 days.
Additionally, Chase’s unwritten “5/24 rule” prevents you from being approved for a new Chase card if you have opened five personal credit cards (from any issuer) within the past 24 months.
How can you use your sign-up bonus?
Marriott Bonvoy points can be redeemed the following ways:
Hotel stays – You can redeem points for free night stays at more than 7,000 participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels in 130 countries and territories. Redemptions start at 5,000 points for an off-peak night at a category 1 hotel and 7,500 points for a standard night. Meaning, the card’s current sign-up bonus can get you 15 free off-peak nights or 10 free standard nights at a Category 1 hotel

Travel – In addition to travel packages and cruises, points can be redeemed at over 200 global airlines and car suppliers across the globe. You can pay for airfare and car rentals using points or a combination of points and cash.
Gift cards – You can redeem points for gift cards at a variety of major retailers, including Amazon.com, Target, Barnes & Noble, Petsmart and more.
Merchandise – You can shop for electronics, appliances, jewelry, cosmetics, apparel and more using your points.
Charity – Points can also be donated to assist in relief efforts for those in need. You can select the charity of your choice here.
Along with redeeming points for travel, merchandise and more, Marriott Bonvoy points can be transferred to more than 40 airline partners – including American Airlines AAdvantage®, British Airways Executive Club, JetBlue TrueBlue, United MileagePlus® – mostly at a 3:1 rate.

When you transfer points to an airline partner, you’ll receive an additional 5,000 miles for every 60,000 points you transfer to airline miles.
Other ways to earn rewards
In addition to the generous sign-up bonus, Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card holders can earn bonus points in a variety of ways, including:
Rewards rate. Earn 6X points for every $1 spent at over 7,000 hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy™ and 2X points on all other purchases.
Additionally, if your account is in good standing, you may be eligible to earn 10X total points on Marriott purchases, including stays at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy, Marriott gift cards and online Marriott boutiques, on up to $3,500 in combined purchases from Nov. 1 to Dec. 31, 2021. If you are eligible, you can activate this offer at Chase.com/mybonus.
Authorized user. You can add family or friends as authorized users to your account and earn points on all of their purchases.
Referral bonus. Cardholders can earn a referral bonus – up to 100,000 bonus points per year – when they invite friends to apply for a Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card. You can receive 20,000 bonus points for each friend who is approved for the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card, up to five referrals per year.
The bottom line
If you want to earn a large influx of rewards in a short period of time to use toward free hotel stays, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card is a great option. Along with a considerable sign-up bonus, the card offers a generous rewards rate on every purchase.
But if you want to take advantage of Marriott Bonvoy perks without paying an annual fee, the Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card may be a better fit. Earn 30,000 Bonus Points after spending $1,000 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening. That’s enough for six off-peak nights at a category 1 hotel. Plus, unlike the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card, the card comes with a $0 annual fee.
