Have some points and want to use them to book a hotel night for a friend or family member?
It’s hit or miss whether various programs allow this. When they don’t, it is sometimes possible to transfer points instead either for free or for a fee depending on the program.
This post covers the booking and transfer policies for each major hotel program.

It is not possible to directly redeem your Accor Hotels Le Club points for another person, but you can redeem points for hotel vouchers that are transferrable. It costs 2,000 points for a €40 voucher.
It is not possible to transfer points directly to another member’s account.
Terms and conditions do not specify that you can or can’t book a reward for someone else, but you cannot modify the name in the reservation when you book a room nor add an additional guest to your stay. For that reason, it’s not easy to book a hotel room for someone else using Best Western Rewards points.
However, transferring points is allowed between people as long as they share the same physical address. You need to contact Best Western customer service in order to initiate the points transfer.

You can book rooms for others with your points, but only over the phone on 801 468 4000.
You can also freely transfer up to 50,000 points per year to your spouse or significant other – or even exceed that amount, once per year, if it is for an immediate redemption. If you’d like to share points for an immediate redemption, the person you are transferring to will need to make a hotel reservation that they don’t have enough points for, you will then need to call in and tell Marriott that you would like to apply your points to a reservation being made by someone else.

Using your hotel points for other people is definitely a good option to have. Unfortunately, not all hotel programs allow redemptions to be made in the name of another person. Fortunately, some programs do, and some programs allow the transfer of points for no fee. Some programs do charge a fee to transfer points, and this is rarely a good deal.
Each program has different rules, so you’ll have to look into the rules for the specific program you are interested in. Most programs usually offer at least one way to share your points with another person, but it’s not always free. As a general rule, using your airline miles for another person is more straightforward than sharing your hotel points.
