If you’re a small business owner looking for a credit card to manage fuel purchases, or if you run a larger business and want a card to manage gas spending for your fleet, you might be considering one of ExxonMobil’s three business credit cards.

Let’s take a look at each card, break down what it offers, and also examine a couple other business cards that offer competitive cashback rewards for gas station spending.

ExxonMobil Business

The ExxonMobil Business is the most basic option of ExxonMobil’s three business credit card offerings. If your business vehicles fill up at Exxon and Mobil gas stations frequently, and you’re looking for a card with a $0 annual fee to put those purchases on, the ExxonMobil Business could be a helpful tool to manage those expenses.

With the ExxonMobil Business card, you can choose to revolve a balance or pay in full. You can view itemized statements that show transactions by card, which is helpful for reviewing employee spending. Plus, your statements will also break down fuel versus non-fuel purchases.

Beyond these tools, there aren’t any rewards or extra benefits to speak of. This is a basic card — it can give you a tool to manage your spending, but don’t expect discounts or rewards.

If your business meets any of the following criteria, ExxonMobil allows you to apply for an account with business-only liability: a government entity, a nonprofit organization or a corporation in business for at least three years with more than $1 million in annual sales. Applicants who don’t meet any of those criteria must apply with joint and several liability.

The type of liability your card comes with affects who is ultimately responsible for what’s charged to the card. Note that many small business cards require personal liability, which essentially means that the business owner is responsible for guaranteeing that the debt will be repaid.

The ExxonMobil Business is issued by Citi. Employee cards are free. The regular purchase APR is .

ExxonMobil Business Fleet

For business owners looking to get a discount on fuel, the ExxonMobil Business Fleet offers the ability to at Exxon and Mobil gas stations with this $0 annual fee card.

The discount is based on gallons purchased per billing period. Here’s the breakdown:

  • 1 cent per gallon off for purchases less than 500 gallons.
  • 3 cents per gallon off for purchases of 500 to 3,999 gallons.
  • 4 cents per gallon off for purchases of 4,000 to 6,999 gallons.
  • 5 cents per gallon off for purchases of 7,000 to 9,999 gallons.
  • 6 cents per gallon off for purchases of 10,000 gallons or more.

This card also offers tools that track and limit spending, with functions for:

  • Reviewing when and where drivers are filling up.
  • Checking driver names to see who’s making the purchases.
  • Tracking the number of gallons purchased and fuel costs.
  • Confirming vehicle mileage with every fill-up.
  • Using miles-per-gallon reporting to identify inefficiencies.
  • Review the details of service and non-fuel purchases.

Plus, you can set restrictions on purchase types, and set limits for transactions, gallons and dollar amounts. The ExxonMobil Business Fleet is issued by WEX Bank.

ExxonMobil Fleet National

If you need a business gas card that’s accepted at more locations than the previous two cards, the ExxonMobil Fleet National card might be the right fit for your business. It’s accepted at more than 90% of retail fueling stations in the United States, according to exxon.com — that’s helpful in case your business requires you to travel on occasion to locations without Exxon or Mobil gas stations nearby. In addition, like the ExxonMobil Business Fleet, the ExxonMobil Fleet National is also issued by WEX Bank and comes with the same spend tracking and limiting tools.
