Expedia announced they are running a fall sweepstakes to reward six Expedia customers with bonus rewards points. This is the perfect incentive leading up to the time of year when more than 40 million American’s are expected to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Expedia Sweepstakes Prizes

This contest will award six lucky winners with Expedia+ rewards points. One grand prize winner will receive 1 million Expedia+ rewards points. The approximate value of 1 million Expedia+ rewards is about $14,000. That’s better than 1 cent per mile, which is the typical value of most rewards or miles credit cards.

Five runner-ups will receive 100,000 Expedia+ rewards points each. Expedia+ rewards points can be redeemed for certain travel awards based on the availability of travel and rewards items. The approximate value of 100,000 Expedia+ rewards points is about $1,400. Again, the value of these miles are slightly higher than the value you would expect from most reward miles making this contest one you shouldn’t pass up.

Contest participants should understand that their rewards can’t be transferred and shouldn’t expect to receive a cash alternative or other form of reward substitution. Carefully read over the contest rules if you have any questions.

How to Enter

Each participant may only enter once and there are two ways to enter the sweepstakes. You may book and purchase your airfare and a hotel package, a hotel stay, or book a cruise vacation with your valid Expedia+ credit card. Once that has been completed, you will automatically receive one entry into the sweepstakes.

Participants may also enter without being required to make a purchase. Simply send an email to sweepstakes@expedia.com and include your first and last name, address, phone number, and email address and put “Fall 2014 Expedia+ rewards Sweepstakes” in the subject line. Sending the email will give you one entry into the sweepstakes, although participants will not receive a confirmation email.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a legal resident of the United States, District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be an Expedia+ rewards member
  • Must enter by 11:59pm on November 3, 2014

The contest does state you must be 18 years of age or older, however, under the contest rules, Notification and Requirement of Potential Winners, it says, “If a potential winner is a minor, his/her parent or legal guardian will be required to sign the documents on his/her behalf.” Additionally, the contest rules does not state whether or not you have to use the reward points for one trip or if you can split up the reward points among many trips. I’m assuming you will be able to split up the rewards considering my average round-trip flight within the U.S. costs no more than $600.

Important Information

Winners will be randomly selected on or about November 10, 2014. Sponsors will attempt to notify selected winners within 10 business days of selection and will contact them by the email address associated with their Expedia+ rewards account or using the email address provided if they entered by email. If you entered this contest, I would be sure to double check the email address is correct, or make sure that the email address associated with the Expedia+ rewards account is accurate and still in use. I would also be sure to check you inbox, spam and trash folder everyday from November 9th through November 20th in case someone failed to claim their prize.

By entering the sweepstakes, selected winners agree that Expedia may use their information for promotional reasons related to this sweepstakes. So, if you aren’t comfortable letting the public know that you won the sweepstakes, you shouldn’t enter. View their privacy policy if you have questions or concerns about your privacy.

Not an Expedia+ Rewards member? Don’t worry, there’s still time to apply for an Expedia+ credit card and receive it before the sweepstakes deadline. Check out their co-branded credit cards with Citibank. Choose from Expedia®+ Voyager Card from Citi or the Expedia®+ Card from Citi!
