If you’re a business owner looking to earn a large influx of rewards to use toward future travel, you should take a look at the CitiBusiness®/ AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Mastercard®.

The CitiBusiness®/ AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Mastercard® recently launched the following sign-up bonus for new cardmembers: Earn 65,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles after spending $4,000 in purchases within the first 4 months of account opening. Additionally, the card offers a solid rewards rate on eligible travel purchases and a variety of business expenses.

The CitiBusiness®/ AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Mastercard® charges an annual fee of $99, waived for first 12 months. However, the value you can get from the card’s rewards rate and travel benefits, including an American Airlines Companion Certificate, can more than cover that amount after the first year.

Are you eligible for the CitiBusiness®/ AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Mastercard® sign up bonus?

If you have received a sign-up bonus for the CitiBusiness®/ AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Mastercard® in the past 48 months, you are not eligible to receive the current offer.

Additionally, you must be an authorized officer and controlling party of a business entity in order to submit the application. According to Citi, a “controlling party” is someone with significant responsibility to control, manage or direct the business, such as a senior manager, general partner, owner, president, chairperson, chief executive, vice president or treasurer.

How can you use the CitiBusiness®/ AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Mastercard® sign-up bonus?

Travel. You can redeem AAdvantage miles for travel to nearly 1,000 destinations across the globe on American Airlines, American Eagle, oneworld airlines and partner airlines.

With the CitiBusiness®/ AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Mastercard®’s current sign-up bonus, you can get an Economy MileSAAver round-trip ticket from New York City to Ibiza, Spain in September 2020, at 60,000 miles.

Just know that the amount of miles required to purchase a ticket is subject to change at any time until the ticket is booked, and may vary based on a number of factors, including destination, time, date of travel, demand and fare class.

Additionally, you can use AAdvantage miles toward flight upgrades, vacations, car rentals and hotel stays.

Products. AAdvantage miles can also be used to purchase newspaper subscriptions.

Services. You can redeem 2,500 AAdvantage miles for six months of free LifeLock Standard identity theft protection. Plus, receive 10% off your next year of membership.

Donations. You can donate AAdvantage miles to a number of partner charities, including Stand Up to Cancer, Make-A-Wish, Feeding America, UNICEF and more.

Other ways to earn CitiBusiness®/ AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Mastercard® rewards

Rewards rate. The CitiBusiness®/ AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Mastercard® offers rewards in a variety of travel and business-related categories. Earn 2 AAdvantage® miles per $1 spent on eligible American Airlines purchases. Earn 2 AAdvantage® miles per $1 spent on purchases at telecommunications merchants, cable and satellite providers, car rental merchants and at gas stations Earn 1 AAdvantage mile per $1 on all other purchases.

The following merchants qualify for the higher rewards rate:

American Airlines purchases include items and bookings paid for through AA.com, American Airlines reservations, American Airlines Admiral Club and American Airlines airport and city ticket counters.

The telecommunications category includes merchants that sell telecommunications equipment, such as telephones, fax machines, pagers and cellphones.

Cable and satellite providers are merchants who provide the connection and ongoing delivery of television, internet, telephone and radio programming via cable or satellite on a subscription or fee basis.

The car rental category includes providers of short-term or long-term rentals of cars, trucks or vans. Merchants that rent homes or other recreational vehicles, as well as purchases made through travel agencies and online third-party sites, do not qualify for the elevated rewards rate.

Purchases made with merchants that primarily sell fuel for consumers. Gas purchased from warehouse clubs, discount stores, department stores and convenience stores may not be eligible for the gas station category.

Employee cards. With the CitiBusiness®/ AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Mastercard®, you can add employee cards at no additional cost, and you will earn points when those authorized users make purchases using their card.
