The Citi Premier® Card, issued by our partner Citi, is ideal for travelers who want to earn an influx of rewards in a short period of time. The card currently offers a lucrative sign-up bonus that lets cardholders earn 60,000 bonus thankyou® points after you spend $4,000 in purchases within the first 3 months of account opening. Plus, cardholders earn 3x points on restaurants, supermarkets, gas stations, air travel and hotels and 1x on all other purchases . ThankYou points do not expire.

Although the Citi Premier® Card comes with a $95 annual fee, the $750 value when you book through the ThankYou® Travel Center more than makes up for that.

In this post, we’ll break down the Citi Premier® Card’s current offer, including how you can use the sign-up bonus, ways to earn bonus points and whether you qualify for the card’s current sign-up bonus.

Are you eligible for the bonus?

In addition to standard credit and financial qualification requirements, you are not eligible to earn the Citi Premier® Card’s current sign-up bonus if you have received a new card member bonus or closed an account for any of the following cards in the past 24 months: Citi ThankYou Premier/ Citi Premier® Card, Citi Rewards+℠ Card, Citi ThankYou® Preferred Card or Citi Prestige® Credit Card.

How can you use your sign-up bonus?

While you can redeem ThankYou points in a variety of ways, including gift cards and merchandise, you’ll get the most value by redeeming points for air travel through the ThankYou Travel Center. See the different ways to redeem your rewards below.

Airfare – You can redeem points for airfare on any airline with no blackout dates through thankyou.com. Points have 25% more value when redeemed for airfare, so the current bonus will be worth $750 in airfare.

Citi allows you to use a combination of points and your Citi Premier® Card if you don’t have enough points to cover the entire airfare.

Gift cards – You can redeem points for gift cards from a wide range of big-name merchants, such as Nike, AMC Theaters, Target, AutoZone, Spafinder Wellness 365, Starbucks and Macy’s. The sign-up bonus can be redeemed for $600 in gift cards.

Merchandise – Use your ThankYou points to shop at participating online partners, such as Amazon.com, Expedia and Live Nation. If you do not use points to pay for the entire purchase, the remaining balance will be charged to your credit card.

Bill pay – If you have an enrolled Citi checking account, you can use your Thank You points or a combination of points and cash, to pay bills via Citi’s online bill pay feature.
