If you prefer earning cash back rewards over points and miles and frequently dine out and attend entertainment events, you should take a look at the Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card or the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card. Both cards offer generous sign-up bonuses and cash back on dining and entertainment purchases.

The Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card lets cardholders earn a one-time $300 cash bonus after you spend $3000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening. Plus, earn 8% cash back on tickets at Vivid Seats through Jan 2022.

Additionally, earn 4% Cash Back on select streaming services, including Netflix, Hulu and Disney+ through Dec. 31, 2020.

The Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card, on the other hand, lets you earn a one-time $200 cash bonus after you spend $500 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening. The Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card’s higher sign-up bonus and rewards rate come at a price, though. The card charges an annual fee of $95, while the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card comes with a $0 annual fee.

In this post, we’ll break down the current offers for the Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card and the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card, including if you qualify for the sign-up bonus, how to use the sign-up bonus and additional ways to earn bonus points.

In this post:

Are you eligible for the Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card or Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card?

If you are an existing or previous account holder for the Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card or the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card, you may not be eligible for that card’s one-time sign-up bonus. You also may not be eligible if you have applied for a Capital One credit card two or more times in the past 30 days, or if you have five or more open Capital One credit card accounts.

Additionally, both the Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card and the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card require excellent credit to qualify. According to Capital One’s credit level guidelines, this means you’ve never declared bankruptcy or defaulted on a loan, you haven’t been more than 60 days late on any credit card, medical bill or loan in the past year, and you’ve had a loan or credit card for three years or more with a credit limit above $5,000. Capital One’s site further explains that these are only guidelines, and that other factors from your application and credit history will also be considered.

How can you use your sign-up bonus?

You can redeem your cash back in the form of a statement credit or a check. Rewards can also be redeemed for previous purchases, gift cards and more.

With the Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card and the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card, your cash back won’t expire for the life of your account. However, if your account is closed, you will lose any rewards that have not yet been redeemed.

Other ways to earn rewards

In addition to sign-up bonuses, Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card and Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card members can earn cash back in a variety of ways, including:

Rewards on every purchase

Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card 4% Cash Back on dining; 4% Cash Back on entertainment; 2% Cash Back at grocery stores; 1% Cash Back on all other purchases. Plus, earn 8% cash back on tickets at Vivid Seats through Jan 2022. Additionally, earn 4% Cash Back on select streaming services through Dec. 31. Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card holders earn 3% Cash Back on dining; 3% Cash Back on entertainment; 2% Cash Back at grocery stores; 1% Cash Back on all other purchases; plus 3% Cash Back on select streaming services through Dec. 31.

Here’s a breakdown of what purchases qualify for each category:

Dining category. The dining category includes purchases made at restaurants, cafes, bars, lounges, fast-food chains and bakeries. Note, food trucks, food carts and merchants that sell food and beverages and are located within larger establishments (like hotel restaurants and grocery store food counters) may not qualify for the higher cash back rate.

Entertainment category. Entertainment includes ticket purchases made at movie theaters, sports promoters, theatrical promoters, amusement parks, tourist attractions, aquariums, zoos, dance halls, record stores, pool halls and bowling alleys.

Golf courses, country clubs (including membership fees), collegiate sporting events, amusement park tickets purchased on third party sites and non-industry entertainment merchants, such as cable, digital streaming and membership services, are excluded from this category.

Grocery store category. This includes purchases made at a supermarket, meat locker, freezer, dairy product store or specialty market. Superstores, such as Walmart and Target, are not included in this category.

Streaming services category. This includes select popular streaming services, including Netflix, Hulu and Disney+.

Refer-a-friend

With the Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card, you can earn up to $500 annually when you invite friends to carry the card, and the friends are approved. Cardholders earn a $100 statement credit for each person they refer who is approved — up to five referrals per calendar year.

This same offer is available for the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card.

Add authorized users

Although you won’t earn a bonus when you add an authorized user to your Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card or Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card, you will earn cash back for every purchase the authorized user makes using their card.

The bottom line

If you spend a substantial amount on dining, entertainment and grocery purchases, the Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card is a great choice. Along with a generous cash back rate on those purchases, the card lets you earn a one-time $300 cash bonus after you spend $3000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening.

If you want to earn cash back in those categories, but you don’t want to pay an annual fee, the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card is a good alternative. The Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card offers a slightly lower sign-up bonus and rewards rate than the Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card. However, the card also comes with a $0 annual fee — compared to the Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card’s annual fee of $95.
