What is a good credit score?

One of the most commonly used credit scoring tools is the FICO® Score, which ranges from 300-850. The top three tiers in that range are as follows, according to myFICO.com:

  • Good: 670-739
  • Very good: 740-799
  • Exceptional: 800+

To find out where you stand, there are numerous ways to access your FICO Score for free. If your financial institution or card issuer doesn’t offer it, you can always go to Discover Credit Scorecard, which is free to both Discover and non-Discover cardholders.
