The no annual fee Hilton Honors Credit Card from American Express is out with the best welcome offer we’ve seen for signing up.
The Hilton Honors Credit Card from American Express has no annual fee and the offer isn’t valid if you’ve held this specific card before, but if you have another kind of Honors credit card that’s fine, because it’s okay to get a bonus from different types cards.
Is this a good deal?
This is the highest widely available offer we’ve seen for this card, besting a deal seen last fall for 75,000 points. The more typical offer we see is for just 50,000 points. That said, the prior high 75,000 point deal had a spending requirement of just $1,000, and with this deal you need to spend $2,000 in 3 months to earn the bonus.
If you’re okay with that, the Hilton Honors Credit Card from American Express is a great way to earn Honors points quickly via spending.
You get 5x Hilton Honors Bonus Points per dollar you spend at U.S. restaurants, U.S. supermarkets, and U.S. gas stations, and 3x Hilton Honors Bonus Points for all other eligible purchases on your Card.
You can’t use Honors points like cash, but we estimate Honors points can get you about 0.5 cents in value per point. So 10,000 points could get you about $50 worth of hotel nights.
We think this might be the most valuable no annual fee welcome offer currently available.
80,000 points can get you free nights like these:
4 nights at the DoubleTree near Universal Orlando, which would save over $450.
One night at the Embassy Suites Waikiki, saving over $300.
Almost three nights at the DoubleTree Anaheim, with a free shuttle to Disneyland, saving over $400.
Are there better deals for Honors points?
Consider the Virgin Atlantic World MasterCard with up to a 95,000 point introductory offer as of the date of this post. Virgin Atlantic miles can be transferred into your Hilton Honors account anytime, and ever 1,000 Virgin miles gets you 1,500 Honors points, so 95,000 Virgin miles can get you 142,500 Honors points.
The Citi ThankYou® Premier Card also let you transfer points into your Hilton Honors account, and 1,000 ThankYou points = 1,500 Honors points. And American Express Membership Rewards® points also transfer to Hilton at the same rate.
Will you qualify for the bonus?
Amex only allows one bonus per lifetime for each card product, so if you’ve earned a bonus for the no annual fee Hilton Honors Amex before, you won’t be eligible to earn one again. Though if it’s been many, many years, like 5 or more, there’s a chance your old account might not be in the system.
And if you hold another Hilton card that’s fine, because Amex considers them entirely separate products, and you can earn a bonus for more than one kind of Hilton card.
