More Info

Just go through the process of searching for a flight until you get to this page.

You can check to see if you’re targeted for that deal (which we don’t think is still active), or another offer by entering your SkyMiles® number at DeltaAmexCard.com.

Or, if you got an offer code in the mail you can check it at GetAwayWith60k.com – but you’ll need the code from your mail there – the DeltaAmexCard site lets you check without a special code.

What’s the difference?

Both the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express and Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express* offer a free first checked bag for you and up to 8 people on your reservation on Delta flights, along with priority boarding.

The Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express* adds a companion certificate when you renew your card each year that lets you bring a companion along for just the cost of taxes and fees on a domestic Delta flight once a year. It’s valid only on the cheapest Delta fares, and you have to wait a year to get the certificate, but if you’re flexible it can save you hundreds of dollars.

The Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express* card also offers the ability to earn Medallion Qualification Miles on top of the award miles.

In addition to the sign on bonus, you earn 10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles and a $100 statement credit after you spend $3,000 in purchases and make a Delta purchase within the first 3 months of account opening.

You can’t use Medallion Qualification miles to book award flights, but they can help you earn Delta Medallion status which offers perks like upgrades and early boarding. You need 25,000 or more Medallion Qualification Miles from January – December to earn Medallion status.

Yes, if you haven’t earned more reliable mileage currencies like Chase Ultimate Rewards® / United MileagePlus® yet, you should focus on earning those first.

But if you already have miles in a bunch of accounts, or have a SkyMiles® balance you want to top off, this deal is worth considering.

50,000 Delta miles still reliably get you a roundtrip to Europe during the summer in Economy Class, even though Delta no longer uses a published menu of award prices. An award like this can save you $1,200 or more in airfare.

And with only a $1,000 spending requirement for these deals, you can earn the miles quickly and lock in your award while prices still look good.

SkyMiles® are useful around getting to Europe in Business Class without surcharges, though for flights in 2017 they are charging 140,000 miles roundtrip, up from the 2016 rate of 125,000 miles. The upshot is availability is good on Delta, so you can find awards at this price even during the middle of the summer.
