Who the card is best for

The Platinum Card® from American Express is a great card for frequent travelers looking to maximize their travel perks. You receive extensive benefits that cover everything from lounge access to baggage insurance to airline fee credit and much more — all adding increased value to this card. Also, the rewards program benefits travelers and allows flexibility when redeeming Membership Rewards® Points in a variety of ways from booking new travel to transferring points on a 1:1 rate with many partner frequent flyer programs.

This card has a high $550 annual fee, so people who can’t afford the fee or who may not travel that often, might be better off with cash back cards or no to low fee travel cards.

Where this card stands out in its category

This cards offers numerous benefits that you can enjoy. We have been getting better rates when paying for hotels and resorts. It also gives you some perks when flying, just for using the card! One of the things we use the most is the unlimited WiFi access benefit. These days hotels & resorts charge a fee for WiFi service so this is a great perk!

I use this card enough to justify the annual fee. The rewards are easy to redeem and the benefits of this card are worth much more than the annual fee. I use the Delta SkyClub a lot. Additionally, getting a $100 credit for TSA pre-check is great. I also use the free Regus membership. Most importantly, this card offers me a very sizable credit limit for my business purchases.
