This card was designed with Delta customers in mind, and is a great fit if you can afford the $0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $95. Otherwise, if you don’t fly Delta or want a card without an annual fee, look to other airline or travel credit cards. Also, since this is a travel card, you don’t have the flexibility to redeem miles for things like cash back or statement credit, so check out cash back cards if that’s what you’re more interested in.

To gain the most value from the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express, use it for all Delta purchases so you can earn the higher rewards rate — just make sure you book your travel directly with Delta. While flying, charge eligible in-flight purchases on food, beverages, and audio headsets on this card to receive a 20% statement credit. When traveling abroad, use this card since the foreign transaction fee is none. A good way to increase your miles is to meet the requirements of the bonus: 30,000 Bonus Miles after spending $1,000 in purchases in the first 3 months and a $50 statement credit after making a Delta purchase in the first 3 months with your new Card.

You can earn 2 miles on every dollar spent on purchases made directly with Delta and 1 mile for every eligible dollar spent on purchases. Qualifying Delta purchases include those made directly with Delta, including flights booked on Delta.com, Sky Club® membership or passes, Delta Vacations® packages, seat upgrades, or in-flight purchases like food, beverages, and audio headsets. It's been easy and painless to deal with them by phone. I always get a real person and they are accommodating. Recently I had to dispute a $2,000 charge on a product that never arrived, and they took my side. Great card.
