I called for support and after giving my credit card number was told that I would be transferred to someone who could help. Another person answered the phone and rudely said to call back in three hours. Not helpful!

My husband had me close out my Citi Bank Master Card. Because I was over my credit line, but when the monthly payment was made, that would always leave me enough money, plus some more, so they said it was so that I didn't / wouldn't make me feel or look embarrassed. So I did get back under my credit limit, only so they would put me back under my credit limit. So for a little while, but the cycle started again,so that put me over my credit line again. This kept happening for YEARS TO ME. Okay, my credit line when I first got the card, which was back in 1983.I think they started me with a limit of $500. Over the years they kept on raising it eventually to over $23,000 I purchased something for $400.00 so that put me over my limit by $400 So when I got my bill, it would said that II went over my credit limit. So ok , I made a payment for of $800..So that then put me UNDER MY LIMIT by $600. So then I purchased an item for $850. That then put me over by $250. So the next payment was due for the purchased item of $850. plus overage $250., plus their over fee of $35. So I called them, had to give them permission to talk to my husband. They had a very long... conversation... So he told them he was just going to the bank & took a 2nd. mortgage, just to pay it off. He told them when their payment of over $21,000 was made, they were to close out the account, said me an e mail & certified letter as it was closed out & we'll never going to deal with them again. I sweare that all these plastic pushing company & employees ( only doing what they are told to do ) Because when my husband was talking to the man on phone from Citi Bank Master Card, my husband said something to the enployee to do with their policies, he was agreeing with my husband, but DIDN'T COME RIGHT & SAYING THAT. I don't know what to do, you have to have some line / kind of credit, but these banks got your ba_ _ _. Trying to act like a LADY... Unfortunately. they have people like me, with BIPOLAR, I'm not trying to make an excuse but it does happen all the time. SORRY FOR IT BEING SO LONG, i JUST HAD TO GET IT OFF MY CHEST, SAW THIS AREA ON THIS SITE, SO NOW I DID IT, THANKS FOR LETTING TO TELL YOU WHAT WE THINK.

i got a credit card back in the late 80's got it for emergenies when I got it I activated it ,, only to never use it ,,,I kept getting statements from them and would just throw them out ,,,, knowing that I had never used it ,,, after about ten years I had forgot all about it I had never used it so it never thought about it ,,, somewhere in that time I quite getting statements ,,, one day I opened something from a credit union not knowing what it was ,,,it said I owed 8800.00 dollars to them for them to pay them off ,,,, I call them to find out who the hell I was paying off since I never had and major bills ..... come to find out when I activated the card from Citibank they charged me 35.00 dollars to do so ... I never paid it cuz I never knew about the charge ,,,, thus ,,,, very bad credit score ,,, I guess what I am saying is don't get dragged into something you don't know what it is ,,, took me a long time to pay off something I never bought !!!!

By: Andrea Braden | May 17, 2015

Joann Rollin why would you make purchases over your credit limit when yo knew it was over your line of credit. That's so wrong and ignorant to do that and then blame the credit card company for your credit problems. Get a life.

0% Credit Cards & Interest Free Credit Cards

Low interest rate (or 0%) credit cards can save you hundreds of dollars on balance transfers and on routine purchases carried over as credit card balances. Or you may simply want to be rewarded with a preferential interest rate as acknowledgement for good credit history and responsible debt management. Whatever your goals or motivation, zero percent or low interest credit cards can help you maintain the lowest rates available to individuals with excellent to good credit. You can find out more about credit score here.

Keep in mind that there are two main categories of low rate credit cards, namely those that offer a Variable APR and those that give you a Fixed APR.  Just like with variable versus fixed rate mortgages, a fixed rate APR will remain relatively stable through the course of the loan. If your card company decides to raise it – which is somewhat rare – they will first notify you of that change according to Federal law requirements. With a variable rate, your APR is tied to a prevailing rate such as the Prime Interest Rate. If the prime rate increases then your APR will most likely follow in a similar fashion.

Generally speaking, credit card companies and banks will extend either 6 or 21 month offers – within the 0% to 3.99% annual interest rate range. That can generate a considerable discount when normal APRs are averaging around 15% or higher. Once the introductory promotional period expires, the APR on a low interest credit card or interest free credit card may revert to the regular interest rate. Of course the ideal balance is a credit card that offers a great near term rate followed by an attractive, competitively priced low interest rate for the long term.

The interest rate charged on your credit card is widely regarded as the single most important component of your card. That’s because it determines the major cost for you to borrow or roll over balances and pay them off over time instead of all at once or within the same month that you make purchases. That’s why getting a zero percent or low interest credit card can be huge financial boon, no matter what your credit card usage patterns or money management strategies may be.
