You can but you will need to verify income to show you will pay the monthly due.

Why are the interest rates "variable"? In the past, mine were not variable. This bothers me.

need a credit card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but have bad credit...help?

Hi Brittany,

Do you know you're current credit score? If it's below a 570, you'll probably need to start with a secured credit card. A secured card is essentially a credit card with a security deposit. You give the bank a small amount of collateral in the form of cash and they give you a credit card, usually with a relatively low line of credit. Paying you monthly bill on this card will help you build credit, and after 6 months to a year, once you've established a good repayment history and if you don't owe anything on the card, they will return your collateral to you and you can apply for a standard, unsecured card card.

The Capital One Secured MasterCard and the Discover it Secured Credit Card are both great options, but feel free to check out all of the options on our secured cards page!

american express is one of the best credit card to carry or not ?

By: Bill Henderson | Jun 21, 2016

It depends on where you shop, for example, Costco used to accept American Express Cards only; however, credit cards with the VISA logo tend to be more useful. The best option is to find a credit card that suits your lifestyle. If you travel, you will need one that has zero foreign transaction fees, otherwise try to keep cards that offer no annual fee, and give you the highest credit line.

Doing so much the past 8 months to reestablish my life seems null and void. Having concerns about a good secued credit card has worn me out. Being denied too many times. Hiring lawyers to deal with issues on my credit report that should not be there anyway. I'm starting to lose confidence even in myself. Thank you

in my opinion one of best credit card is bankamericard better balance rewards platinum plus master card.

By: David Baker | Jun 7, 2015

Dear Andre, Please don't tell me you've given-up on institutes such as the Federal Trade Comission, and plan to throw good money at some lawyer to dal with what's showing on your credit reports, or the "chex system", etc... !! Trust me, you can handle ANY info discrepency completely on your own!! After all, why do you think the FTC is "there"? Give it a go. The results won't come overnight, but if you do what they tell you to do, answer honestly when they ask specific questions, you can turn a credit score that's below a 450 into all 3 bureaus scoring you at 720, or higher!!

I tried all of them, I have the money to be able to afford a credit card but was turned down on every one that I tried. Credit cards are all about getting your money and not helping you!

I don't recall any "credit card company" ever stating they were in the business of "helping random individuals, poor or rich". But, if you have had recent credit accounts, a morgage, a car payment, or anything that shows that "you know HOW to HANDLE all that money"; & none of the hundreds of institutions turn you down, then I'd be looking into paying the $7. for an up-to-date credit report. (One of the things that will, definitely, be making a negative impact is the number of 'hard credit inquiries' it's going to show.)

0% Credit Cards & Interest Free Credit Cards

Low interest rate (or 0%) credit cards can save you hundreds of dollars on balance transfers and on routine purchases carried over as credit card balances. Or you may simply want to be rewarded with a preferential interest rate as acknowledgement for good credit history and responsible debt management. Whatever your goals or motivation, zero percent or low interest credit cards can help you maintain the lowest rates available to individuals with excellent to good credit. You can find out more about credit score here.

Keep in mind that there are two main categories of low rate credit cards, namely those that offer a Variable APR and those that give you a Fixed APR.  Just like with variable versus fixed rate mortgages, a fixed rate APR will remain relatively stable through the course of the loan. If your card company decides to raise it – which is somewhat rare – they will first notify you of that change according to Federal law requirements. With a variable rate, your APR is tied to a prevailing rate such as the Prime Interest Rate. If the prime rate increases then your APR will most likely follow in a similar fashion.

Generally speaking, credit card companies and banks will extend either 6 or 21 month offers – within the 0% to 3.99% annual interest rate range. That can generate a considerable discount when normal APRs are averaging around 15% or higher. Once the introductory promotional period expires, the APR on a low interest credit card or interest free credit card may revert to the regular interest rate. Of course the ideal balance is a credit card that offers a great near term rate followed by an attractive, competitively priced low interest rate for the long term.

The interest rate charged on your credit card is widely regarded as the single most important component of your card. That’s because it determines the major cost for you to borrow or roll over balances and pay them off over time instead of all at once or within the same month that you make purchases. That’s why getting a zero percent or low interest credit card can be huge financial boon, no matter what your credit card usage patterns or money management strategies may be.
