I had great credit. I had worked my Discover card down to 2.3. The way I did this was call up after months of paying and being on time said I was gonna close my card. They offered raised limit and better rate. Then I got divorced. Fell behind and got screwed. Now I got the Capital One card. 300 limit. Paid it off each month. After 6 months I applied for cash back Quicksilver. Got 3200 limit. So start small go big

Why do you think I need more credit cards. The reason I am asking is because I am on a set income and wondering where my next nickel or dime is coming from beyond my retirement. I do not have any credit cards because I cannot afford them. Explain to me why I need any type of credit card. Please reply.

My credit score was about 525 when I applied for my first capitol one card. I kept it for you a year and made payments on it every month and was able to convert up to a better card with a higher credit limit and it came with rewards.

By: Robert Cassetty | Jul 11, 2015

Try first premier or capitol one

If you have a high credit score and a high income, I assume you are talking about the Barclays bank card. The annual fee is 495 and they will give you a high limit, but if you are talking about the amex centurion card that is by invite only

Hello, I saw your comment about getting your credit back on track. I had to do the same thing after my divorce. My credit was a mess. I started out with a $200 credit line with a $50 membership fee. Which I made payments on. Check with a couple cards. Bank of America and citi bank seem to be the most flexible. hope This helps good luck!!!

I am thinking about this Chase Freedom card because I like the commercial song (with George Michael). That is the wrong reason to get a credit card but I hear the Freedom has excellent cash rewards.

I too am a person with disabilities. I have been in the same place as you. I found many options on the gouvernment site for disabled people, and if you are a disabled veteran, I believe that there is so much more help for you. I am looking into housing and it is very difficult and frustrating. Just keep looking , go to the info local telephone @ #211 and you may find some help there also. Good Luck

Is Visa a good card to use?

By: CompareCards | Jun 22, 2015

Hi Johanna,

Visa is the largest credit card processor in the world, so they offer many of the top credit cards on the market. You will be hard pressed to find a place that accepts credit cards, but won't take a Visa. Furthermore, if a card is a Visa Signature, it will offer additional benefits like Lost Luggage Reimbursement, Warranty Manager Service, Year-End Summary Statements and many more. Be sure to check out our Visa credit cards page to see all of the options!

It is not necessarily the name of the card. What you need to be careful of it the interest rate on the credit card. Visa and Master Card are great cards.

0% Credit Cards & Interest Free Credit Cards

Low interest rate (or 0%) credit cards can save you hundreds of dollars on balance transfers and on routine purchases carried over as credit card balances. Or you may simply want to be rewarded with a preferential interest rate as acknowledgement for good credit history and responsible debt management. Whatever your goals or motivation, zero percent or low interest credit cards can help you maintain the lowest rates available to individuals with excellent to good credit. You can find out more about credit score here.

Keep in mind that there are two main categories of low rate credit cards, namely those that offer a Variable APR and those that give you a Fixed APR.  Just like with variable versus fixed rate mortgages, a fixed rate APR will remain relatively stable through the course of the loan. If your card company decides to raise it – which is somewhat rare – they will first notify you of that change according to Federal law requirements. With a variable rate, your APR is tied to a prevailing rate such as the Prime Interest Rate. If the prime rate increases then your APR will most likely follow in a similar fashion.

Generally speaking, credit card companies and banks will extend either 6 or 21 month offers – within the 0% to 3.99% annual interest rate range. That can generate a considerable discount when normal APRs are averaging around 15% or higher. Once the introductory promotional period expires, the APR on a low interest credit card or interest free credit card may revert to the regular interest rate. Of course the ideal balance is a credit card that offers a great near term rate followed by an attractive, competitively priced low interest rate for the long term.

The interest rate charged on your credit card is widely regarded as the single most important component of your card. That’s because it determines the major cost for you to borrow or roll over balances and pay them off over time instead of all at once or within the same month that you make purchases. That’s why getting a zero percent or low interest credit card can be huge financial boon, no matter what your credit card usage patterns or money management strategies may be.

Reviews
" " CompareCards says issuers are providing such generous deals, they're virtually irresistible for those willing to switch.

" " Those who always pay their balances in full and on time will usually come out ahead.

" " The offers on the credit card landscape are constantly changing which is great news for consumers.

" " In the future, the companies that will thrive are those able to give customers exactly what they want, the way they want it, when they want it.
