By Pearle M Pearson. Opened a new Visa card account with a limited approved line of credit in the amount of $600. It took only short time to arrive at this .One month upon receiving my statement, balance had jumped from $600 to a $1000. Checking further, I saw where a credit of $400 had been made, and purchase amount of $ 400, causing over limit on which an over limit fee had been added.. Although reluctant to correct the error, they finally did, still believing I had lncurred that charge

Ruby try the Capital One buypower credit card. My credit was poor and I applied and my credit limit is $3000. I also traded my 1998 Mercedes and got a 2012 Ford Fusion and open a Fingerhut acct and I pay them on time and my credit score has grown tremendously. My score was in the low 500's and they gave me a second chance and I will never mess my credit up ever again.

Years ago, when I was rebuilding, I took out a card with First Premiere Bank. At the time, the fees were high (still are) but worth it if your determined to rebuild. Within 1yr, I started receiving offers from numerous big name credit companies, like Capital One, then Chase etc. Again the fees are high, but with on-time payments of approximately $20 a month ($240yr), your be on your way to rebuilding. PS Search good credit habits in a google search to reinforce proper credit management and behavior. Good Luck.

I am struggling with poor credit and want to start making it better. I work full time and get paid weekly. I I'm able to get the prepaid cards but I would really like the chance to have a real credit card with a small maybe 200 300 dollar limit. so that I could make payments on it regularly and use it regularly and show that I'm doing better and it would help bring my credit score up. I have searched all over the internet and cannot find any card available to me. does anyone know of a car door so I can I can go to and apply and get one? any answers will help. Thank.

Hi Alan,

The best way to build your credit score is to consistently make on time payments and carry as little debt as possible. Prepaid cards will not help you build your credit because they do not report to the credit bureaus. If you're having trouble getting approved for a standard credit card, I would recommend you start with a secured card. A secured card works just like a normal credit card, but they require a refundable security deposit to get approved.

Awesome credit, with $49,500 in available credit after a bankruptcy and how I did it. 1. You gotta start small when you have no or bad credit. I began with a secured credit card and a $300 dollar limit from Capital One. 2. Pay your credit cards on time and your credit score goes up, it's that simple. After a year or so, Capital One sent me 2 additional credit cards. 3. 2 Years later, I noticed that my APR's for my credit cards were over 20%, so I applied for a debt consolidation Loan, from my Credit Union, and was approved. Then my credit Union offered me a platinum card with a $2500 limit. 4. I applied for an auto loan when my credit score was 720 and took out an auto loan with an APR of 7.9% 5. 1.5 years later a refinanced my auto loan for 4.9% from my credit union 6. that same week I opened an American Express Premier Rewards Gold card. Now, i had to make sure that I paid the card off every month. Once I mastered paying off my balances in full every month; 7. I opened my first cash back rewards Capital one card, with 0% for 12 months, and then every time I made a purchase, instead of paying of my balance, I transferred that money into a high yield savings account. I took advantage of the zero interest "loan" and earned interest on my purchases, in addition to the rewards offered. 8. Once the 0% offer was over, I paid the balance off completely with the money saved in my saving account, and open another 0% credit cards, and repeated the process. 9. I paid all my bills on time and have never missed a payment, my Score is now 823, I never pay interest on any credit card, and I rack up the rewards on all my purchases. I get paid to spend money. You just need discipline!!

I so agree with you Earline!!! I've been trying to reestablish my credit, I just recently got approved for a starter fingerhut account!! I've paid all of my payments on time and early!! I owe $11.76 and am paying it Friday! They say they report to credit bureaus!!!! We will see!!!! Just maybe if they do I can I pray get one credit card to prove myself!!!!!

By: Kim Bauer | Jul 19, 2015

Ashley, my fico score were 497 and 501 low very bad credit. 1. Got my free credit info. Once you have all three scour ovver your report for any errors or mistakes and address them first. 2. Don't expect a quick Turner this takes work and discipline but it is worth it. Anyway look for cards that will prequalify as you dont want your report full of inquires as this will negatively impact your credit score. Most likely your first card would be a $200 secured capital one card. After 6 mo to 12 mos of payments on time, NEVER go over your credit limit they will increase your limit by the amt you deposited, so you will have in unsecured card with a limit of $400.00. ALWAYS PAY ON TIME AND ALWAYS OVER THE MINIMUM AMT. Is: amt due $25.00 pay $35.00. Do this on any cards you have. Time to apply for your next card. Try Credit One, they have a preeqaulifing application as well. This card will most likely approve you with a $500 limit all unsecured. Make sure you pay on time and for over the minimum.. By now your score will most likely be somewhere over 600. And just keep on chugging and before you know it your score will be up there and you will Be getting preapproved cards that are actually preapproved and cards with great benefits. BUT BE CAREFULL DON'T GET INTO CREDIT CARD DEBT AGAIN as your score will plumment faster than you can imagine and you work so hard to get to where you're at that you don't want to be back in debt again!!! Good luck.

Watch out for Chase Cridit Cards he had a problem with these, you need to start with a Cridit Card that only goes to $500.00 ,that way it is easyer to pay and do not let them talk you into going higher once you hit your limit that is how they get most people and they raise there percentage alsolol, mnanny.

0% Credit Cards & Interest Free Credit Cards

Low interest rate (or 0%) credit cards can save you hundreds of dollars on balance transfers and on routine purchases carried over as credit card balances. Or you may simply want to be rewarded with a preferential interest rate as acknowledgement for good credit history and responsible debt management. Whatever your goals or motivation, zero percent or low interest credit cards can help you maintain the lowest rates available to individuals with excellent to good credit. You can find out more about credit score here.

Keep in mind that there are two main categories of low rate credit cards, namely those that offer a Variable APR and those that give you a Fixed APR.  Just like with variable versus fixed rate mortgages, a fixed rate APR will remain relatively stable through the course of the loan. If your card company decides to raise it – which is somewhat rare – they will first notify you of that change according to Federal law requirements. With a variable rate, your APR is tied to a prevailing rate such as the Prime Interest Rate. If the prime rate increases then your APR will most likely follow in a similar fashion.

Generally speaking, credit card companies and banks will extend either 6 or 21 month offers – within the 0% to 3.99% annual interest rate range. That can generate a considerable discount when normal APRs are averaging around 15% or higher. Once the introductory promotional period expires, the APR on a low interest credit card or interest free credit card may revert to the regular interest rate. Of course the ideal balance is a credit card that offers a great near term rate followed by an attractive, competitively priced low interest rate for the long term.

The interest rate charged on your credit card is widely regarded as the single most important component of your card. That’s because it determines the major cost for you to borrow or roll over balances and pay them off over time instead of all at once or within the same month that you make purchases. That’s why getting a zero percent or low interest credit card can be huge financial boon, no matter what your credit card usage patterns or money management strategies may be.
