Don't have one .Don't need one!!!

good for u. some people need a helping hand once in a while then are back on their feet again....

Hhmm, a person "could" wonder if the reason you don't have one is because you can't get one...It's just a thought.

good one james.....i love it.

Thats only because you keep getting denied.

you will have to do one trade line

I agree! Amen and Godspeed!!! ;)

If you can manage your money, credit cards are awesome to have. I use mine for everyday purchases, get points, and then pay them off each month-- staying in control of my spending. Getting cash back/ points for daily errand purchases/ lunch, etc is actually really "rewarding." (excuse the pun). Not only that, but you're building credit, and credit cards are a lifeline in case life happens. Just don't fall victim to large spending in general or trying to fulfill promotions if you can't afford it.

ok you like it but when you get down on cash and you cant make the payment let see what happen

Discover is #1 in my book my Fico is 677 and my Credit limit 6500 like i said go Discover the best ever!!!!!

lol that's funny James Barnes

I'm with you. I got out of the habit and paid them off. then cut them up. If I want something I best be able to afford it!

Wow! Congratulations Kathy! I wish I could qualify for one! I am not ashamed to say I was never taught about credit. I had to learn about from the school of hard-knocks! My score is so bad now and I don't qualify for a card to get back on track!

CANT GET ONE, HENCE THE NEGATIVITY

Picture of Carrie Estrada Cipollini

looking fro the best credit card for my needs. I have o cards at this time but feel like I should have at least one for real emergencies. my fico is at 722-750 and am really wanting a card which will get me the highest limit like about 3 - 5k. or its just not worth dinging my credit for a 500 limit. how would I be able to speak to an actual rep that would be able to ans my limit questions

Don"t do it , my fico was 718 and I got sick and lost my job, had to use the card and it ruined my credit. Don't , Please Don't, God Bless You. Jamie

there is no better card than Discover, cash back rewards, rewards can make your payments, special deals at certain times of the year, gas rewards add up, retail stores, buy gift cards with participating stores and the stores will give you additional bonus. Buy $20 gift card from discover for a store and the store give you extra $5 or order more get more. No over the limit fee. as you know sometimes your busy schedule can cause you a over sight and go over, no charge, fraud protection, you can also order from other stores, connect with discover and than get deals from both. Try discover and you can't go wrong with them. beats capital one and others any day.

no....it better to have one in case of emergencies. anyone who had good credit and now has bad credit is because they never used it right or never paid. as long as you use it and pay for it, your credit will always go up over time. the best one that i find is Chase freedom and Discover. i have both and they each started me out with $4000.00 line of credit. personally, that is more than i need. good luck Carrie.

The more credit cards you have gives you more flexability in using them With your FICO you should be able to get much higher credit limits than 3-5k The most important point to be considered is whether or not you can pay off any balances each month to avoid the high interest rates once the zero interest period expires Credit cards and balance tranfers at zero interest are great vehicles if you can pay them off without incurring high interest rates after the promotion rates end

Bank America has a credit card that pays you $25 every 3 months if you pay more than the "minimum" due each month There is an additional reward if you have an account with the bank

@ Joseph Miller, can you tell me if the $4000 line of credit you received was due to " Excellent Credit 700 and above ? that would help me a lot since I was thinking the same thing that Carrie Estrada Cipollini stated. my Fico is 716. and I hate to apply unless I can get between 3k-5k. it would not be worth it to have an inquiry on my credit for $500 limit..

if you fico is 722-750 go Discover you will love it!!

Carrie Estrada Cipollini, they have cards out there that are secured cards that will help you build your credit. If your credit is bad, noone will give you a card and if so, they percentage will be astronomical! I'm pretty sure Capital One has one and by secured I mean, you send them $300 and they give you a credit limit of $300. It doesn't sound the best but it works and will def help build your credit if you pay on time. Good luck!

Go to First Progress. They have all the best cards for everybody. They are Better Business Approved and MY APRis 11%.

what is your credit score?

Try Capital one Quicksilverone. I was able to secure the card after I had to file for bankruptcy. Very easy to apply online.

Capital One will give you a Quicksilver.

Wells Fargo offered me my first credit card when I was in college and I had no credit. It started me off with $600. Maybe check with your local bank!

If you ever get behind . you can hang it up ! know cares what happen to get you that way .

I understand exactly. I have been trying to get a card with 500. and just can't. Had an illness which caused some bad credit but all of it. This was quite a few years ago too. They won't even give me the 10 second answer. You can't get started again if you can't get a card. Right?

Go to your bank in person and deal with your banker.

GO TO CAPITAL ONE, THEY WILL HELP YOU

What FICO score is considered excellent? Mine is 815.

Boy NO ONE CREDIT SCORE THAT HIGH.

850 is the highest. ... yes there are scores in the 800's.

Your score is excellent; top scores are in the 800's.

myfico excellent score is 760 to 850. If your credit score is 760 and over you have a excellent credit you will get the best rate

Funny thing is, my FICO is 810, I have 11 credit cards, from $18,500 line of credit to my lowest of $1,500....total balance of all my cards is around $2,200....and I got denied by Discover

Michael lee Haight the reason you got denied wasn't because you don't have good credit it was because you have to many open line's of credit. i know it sound's dumb but very true, because you have so many credit cards you are considered a high risk. Because if you wanted to you could charge all your credit cards up and put your self in debt really bad, so there are credit cards companies that will not give out credit cards tp people with a lot of open accounts. :)

That's a pretty excellent score!!! Good for you....

Picture of Tudy Flansburg

my score is 850 .. I dont have a card but i want one. Does the interest rate compare to your score? Like id love to have an interest of 10 percent.

If your credit score is 850 your interest rate should be much lower than that. My credit score is 794 and I don't have a CC with interest rates in double digits.

Simmons First National bank of Arkansas is the lowest in the nation.

Good grief, you'd like an int rate of 10%? What are you paying, girl? I have a $25,000 credit limit with Citicard and they are WONDERFUL to deal with. There are no annual fees, no late fees ever. Would not go with anyone else but I have always paid on time as I'm trying to get the card paid off. It's been a struggle but they truly have been super to deal with. Highly recommend them. I would never have a credit card balance of $25,000 EVER but it's there if need be.I always take advantage of the balance transfers with 0% int but there is a transfer fee of 3% but still saving way more in interest than the 3% fee. I like it!!!

There is no way you can have an 850 and not have any credit cards.

My husband had me close out my Citi Bank Master Card. Because I was over my credit line, but when the monthly payment was made, that would always leave me enough money, plus some more, so they said it was so that I didn't / wouldn't make me feel or look embarrassed. So I did get back under my credit limit, only so they would put me back under my credit limit. So for a little while, but the cycle started again,so that put me over my credit line again. This kept happening for YEARS TO ME. Okay, my credit line when I first got the card, which was back in 1983.I think they started me with a limit of $500. Over the years they kept on raising it eventually to over $23,000 I purchased something for $400.00 so that put me over my limit by $400 So when I got my bill, it would said that II went over my credit limit. So ok , I made a payment for of $800..So that then put me UNDER MY LIMIT by $600. So then I purchased an item for $850. That then put me over by $250. So the next payment was due for the purchased item of $850. plus overage $250., plus their over fee of $35. So I called them, had to give them permission to talk to my husband. They had a very long... conversation... So he told them he was just going to the bank & took a 2nd. mortgage, just to pay it off. I have to say the people at Cap1 have been awesome to me. The extended me credit even though I had defaulted on them because of past financial troubles. They approved me for a card that offered cash back to boot. I mean the interest rate on it was high, but since I PIF'd it did not matter. I cant say enough good things about Cap1. Now that my credit is good, I still carry their cards and use it despite their higher interest rate compared to my other cards. Even if your credit is so bad you cant get approved for a card out right, they offer partially secured cards that you can later graduate to a great card. If you need a card, I would look at them first. Once you have a couple of years history with them, then Barclay card would be the next step. Please do you self a favor and stay away from "CREDIT ONE", which sounds and looks like "Capital One" at all cost. They charge you hefty fees upfront that make them a horrible choice. Good luck. P.S not having a credit card put you at a disadvantage. Case and point, you pay more for gas and groceries because most rewards cards offer 2 to 6 % cash back rewards to credit card users, which means that people who use Debit cards to buy gas and groceries end up with a reverse penalty for not using credit cards. The only caveat is that paying with credit cards, you have to set aside the cash to pay the card, as if you used your ATM for it.

Yep Cap 1, is the only Group, helping poor and average credit scores, to a great card. Low CL and High Interest, but they help yo on your way to better your credit score. Also great Checking and Savings, under the Cap 1-360. Both Interest bearing accounts, no maintenance fees, and a gracious overdraft amount, for only 11.75 % APR attached to your 360-checking. Now, where in the world can anyone compete with them?

0% Credit Cards & Interest Free Credit Cards

Low interest rate (or 0%) credit cards can save you hundreds of dollars on balance transfers and on routine purchases carried over as credit card balances. Or you may simply want to be rewarded with a preferential interest rate as acknowledgement for good credit history and responsible debt management. Whatever your goals or motivation, zero percent or low interest credit cards can help you maintain the lowest rates available to individuals with excellent to good credit. You can find out more about credit score here.

Keep in mind that there are two main categories of low rate credit cards, namely those that offer a Variable APR and those that give you a Fixed APR.  Just like with variable versus fixed rate mortgages, a fixed rate APR will remain relatively stable through the course of the loan. If your card company decides to raise it – which is somewhat rare – they will first notify you of that change according to Federal law requirements. With a variable rate, your APR is tied to a prevailing rate such as the Prime Interest Rate. If the prime rate increases then your APR will most likely follow in a similar fashion.

Generally speaking, credit card companies and banks will extend either 6 or 21 month offers – within the 0% to 3.99% annual interest rate range. That can generate a considerable discount when normal APRs are averaging around 15% or higher. Once the introductory promotional period expires, the APR on a low interest credit card or interest free credit card may revert to the regular interest rate. Of course the ideal balance is a credit card that offers a great near term rate followed by an attractive, competitively priced low interest rate for the long term.

The interest rate charged on your credit card is widely regarded as the single most important component of your card. That’s because it determines the major cost for you to borrow or roll over balances and pay them off over time instead of all at once or within the same month that you make purchases. That’s why getting a zero percent or low interest credit card can be huge financial boon, no matter what your credit card usage patterns or money management strategies may be.
