College Finance 101: How to make it to graduation without student debt

  • Be Aware of Identity Theft. Remember to be wary of hackers and thieves who use social security numbers and other identifiable information to open accounts and rack up debt in other people’s names. Never give out personal information on social media or give your social security number to anyone that you don’t know or fully trust. Also, always shred your receipts, bills, and old credit cards instead of merely throwing them away in the trash. The Federal Trade Commission has some great resources for protecting yourself against identity theft at http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/topics/identity-theft
