Overall

The Bottom-Line

Since credit cards are small and thin, the fact that it’s biodegradable in a landfill is really insignificant as a benefit. More importantly, it lets you transfer balances and enjoy 0% interest for up to 6 months.

The Good

Besides the 0% interest on balance transfers, it offers up to a 20% Cashback Bonus® when you shop online—or double the bonus with over 100 Cashback Bonus partners.

The Not So Good

Note the “up to” in two places above; it could be much less. Also, the Discover® Card is not accepted everywhere. And to get a Cashback Bonus® when shopping offline, you have to spend hundreds of dollars.

CARD DESCRIPTION

Assuming your credit score is “good” or better, the Biodegradable Discover® More Card might be worth applying for, if you have a high-interest balance on some other credit card and would like to pay it off at 0% during the intro period, which is “up to” 6 months but might be only 2 or 3 months. Like all Discover® Cards, the more you charge, the higher your Cashback Bonus® can be. However, it doesn’t make sense to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on “stuff” just to get cash back, which may not be very much. (Read the fine print for all the details.) You can get a 5% Cashback Bonus® on certain purchases, depending on the season. For instance, from July through September, using the card will save you 5% on purchases of gas, hotel stays or theme park tickets—but you won’t see the savings until later, after they add up to a specified amount.
