Expert Reviews

From the CompareCards.com Editorial Team

The is an in-store charge card with no annual fee, and it can be used at Sears and its affiliates, which include KMart stores.  The signup bonus, of $10, is pitiful.

The Bottom Line

The card is convenient if you shop at Sears stores, but carrying a balance or taking cash advances can be very expensive with this card.

The Good

$10 will be credited to your account when you make your first purchase with your new Sears Card. You can also qualify for deferred interest on purchases made with the card, and receive advance notice of special sales and promotions.

The Not So Good

To qualify for that $10 sign-up bonus you have to take advantage of it by making your first purchase the same day you open your card account. If you use the deferred interest program but do not completely pay off the balance within 6 months, you will be charged full interest from the date of the original purchase. The APR for purchases is 25.49% and the APR for cash advances is 27.40%, and both of those are pretty steep. There is also a surcharge on cash advances of $5 or 5% of the amount of each cash advance, whichever is greater.
