The Bottom Line

The card offers Sam’s Club members strong rewards for gasoline purchases, and also generous rewards for dining and traveling. There are some restrictions on how much you can earn, though, and outside of those three categories the cash back is not that generous, at only 1%.

The Good

There is no annual fee and you can earn 5% cash back on gasoline purchases, 3% back on dining and travel purchases, and 1% back on everything else – at Sam’s Club or elsewhere.

The Not So Good

The purchase APR is 14.90% or 22.90%, depending upon your credit worthiness, so those with not-so-good credit face a rather steep APR. Your ability to earn 5% cash back on gasoline is limited to purchases of $6,000 per year. If you buy more gasoline than that then purchases over that $6,000 cap earn only 1% cash back for the rest of that year.
Also, a maximum of $5,000 in Cash Back rewards can be earned in a calendar year. Cash back checks are only issued each February for the cash back earned during the previous calendar year, and that delay could be inconvenient.
