Expert Reviews

From the Editorial Team

For frequent users of PayPal, the PayPal Extras MasterCard is a great opportunity to earn savings. This card can be extremely beneficial thanks to the rewards points program. In addition, cardmembers enjoy all the benefits of MasterCard such as price protection and travel assistance.

With this traditional credit card spending limits are based on creditworthiness instead of your PayPal account balance. Cardholders can earn 3X the points per each $1 spending on dining and gas, 2X the points per each $1 on PayPal and eBay purchases and 1X the point per each $1 spent on everyday purchases.

Another great feature is that the PayPal Extras MasterCard has no annual fee. However, the 3.00% foreign transaction fee means this card will really rack up the fees with international travel. In addition, for those who carry a balance the interest fees due the APR of 20.24% to 24.24% could be substaintal.

The Bottom Line

Rewards points are only eligible to earn a maximum of 50,000 per calendar year. Points are not able to be redeemed in the minimum balance is not paid on the card. If points are not redeemed within 24 months of issue, loss of points will insue.

The Good

This card has no annual fee and offers cardmembers the opportunity to save a valuable rewards points program. You'll earn points for purchases spent on dining, gas stations, PayPal, eBay and other everyday purchases.

The Not So Good

For those who hibitually carry a balance, the interest rate fees could really add up with an APR of 20.24% to 24.24%. In addition, the foreign transaction fee of 3.00% won't make this credit card a great international travel companion.
