The Bottom Line

Earning rewards you can apply to future purchases is always nice. But the interest rate for carrying a balance on this card is very high and may undercut the value of its various perks.

The Good

Cardholders earn one JCPenney rewards point for every $1 spent on qualifying purchases at JCPenney Stores, and once you earn 100 points in a calendar month, you will be eligible to receive a $10 JCPenney Rewards certificate. You can earn up to 10 rewards per month and are also eligible for special bonus points opportunities and periodic sales and savings events.

There are also Gold and Platinum levels for those who are rather big spenders, and when you reach those status levels you qualify for additional perks like a birthday gift, promotional financing, or the Platinum-level chance at free shipping.

The Not So Good

The APR is 26.99%, which is extraordinarily high compared to many charge cards and credit cards from other stores or credit card companies.
